MuCheng Park is planned to cover an area of 3,800 mu, with a constructed area of 2,600 mu. The park creates forest landscapes through afforestation and greening, excavates lakes for scenic views, expands water-friendly spaces, and embodies the characteristics of freshness, nature, and simplicity. It highlights four major elements: ‘wetland, water town, leisure, and entertainment’, and includes multiple functional areas such as riverside scenic spots, water-friendly lakeshores, cultural features, and commercial food areas, providing a great place for citizens to visit and relax.
Not far from the entrance of MuCheng Park, there is the open and grand Minghu Square, with a total area of over 10,000 square meters, featuring a sunken square and a colorful and dynamic musical fountain. Near the riverbank, there is a riverside square with a total area of over 7,000 square meters, where wooden trellises, giant Taihu stones, and water-friendly platforms form a beautiful scenery. In addition to these two large squares, there are several small squares within the park for tourists to rest and for the parking of sightseeing vehicles.
Passing Minghu Square leads to Minghu Lake, which accounts for about one-fifth of the area of MuCheng Park, approximately 600 mu. Minghu Lake is divided into two parts by a nine-hole bridge, with the northern lake resembling the sun and the southern lake resembling a crescent moon, resembling the capital letter ‘Ming’, which fits the meaning of ‘Minghu Lake’. Walking along the shore of Minghu Lake, one can see the vast lake surface, small islands connected by long causeways, and causeways connected by wooden bridges. The lotus pond and lotus pavilion, connected by the lotus flower bridge, are fully integrated into the landscape water system, which is very ornamental and has beautiful scenery.
Coming to the shore of Minghu Lake, one can see two ribbon-shaped beaches, one of sand and the other of pebbles. The artificial sand beach is about 700 meters long, and the pebble beach is about 300 meters long, with sand and pebbles all transported from other places. Here, one can enjoy the pleasure of walking barefoot on the sand and relax both physically and mentally.
There are many naturally formed wetlands in the park, where more than 30 kinds of aquatic plants such as reeds, lotuses, water onions, water lilies, and water thistles grow in the wetland landscape area. The park’s 70 mu of wetlands play an important role in providing water resources, regulating climate, conserving water sources, degrading pollutants, and protecting biodiversity.
Walking through the park’s paths, one can be amazed by the unique Taihu stones, which are in various shapes and highlight the wonders of nature. In MuCheng Park, seven peculiar stones are scattered throughout the park, with the larger one placed in the riverside square, facing the Yangtze River, as if a steed is soaring over the river.
The park is open all year round, 24 hours a day. The specific business status is subject to the daily opening conditions.
