My initial memory of cruise ships probably began with the various stories I heard as a child. I still remember watching ‘The Legend of 1900’ and being impressed by the top luxury cruise ship depicted in the movie. Over 100 years ago, that giant ship had everything from a gym and swimming pool to high-end restaurants, which sparked my longing for a cruise journey. After falling in love with traveling, I had the opportunity to experience many cruises. For me, a cruise not only provides an opportunity for my mind to unwind when traveling alone but is also the best choice for a family trip with three generations. On the cruise, there are various experience projects suitable for people of all ages, and safety is a given. Royal Caribbean Spectrum is the best choice for a multigenerational trip!

Since I don’t know much about cruise ships, I tend to lean more towards more well-known and highly regarded companies among the public. Royal Caribbean, an international cruise brand that has been popular worldwide for fifty years and has won the ‘Best Cruise Line’ award for fifteen consecutive years, undoubtedly became my first choice. Although on the ship, I felt that I did not miss out on food, drink, or entertainment. The dishes in the ship’s restaurants cater to both the light tastes of children and the elderly, as well as my own preference for heavier flavors. In addition, various entertainment projects such as deck skydiving, North Star, and South Pole kept me adrenaline-charged throughout the day. The children’s amusement park is a world for the children. For the elderly, lying by the outdoor swimming pool to bask in the sun is very pleasant.

Learning while playing, allowing the child to grow during the trip is a concern for many parents when taking their children out for travel. Because children have different preferences from adults, simple sightseeing and visiting historical sites are not so attractive to them. They are full of energy and curiosity about everything, and can jump around for hours without getting tired. Moreover, my three-year-old son is at the stage of English enlightenment learning, which is very important. I enrolled him in a foreign teacher English class at VIPKID, and coincidentally, Royal Caribbean recently launched a cruise sea open class in collaboration with VIPKID. The Aqua Park is a favorite among the little ones. Children seem to have an innate connection with water, all eager to dive into it. However, this place offers more than just water; how could mere water capture the children’s attention? The Aqua Park features a variety of colorful sculptures scattered around sprinklers, nozzles, and water cannons, as if they were the children’s loyal playmates. Little ones can use these water cannons to drench their friends and engage in an intense ‘water battle.’ At night, the Aqua Park transforms into a beautiful world of sculptures illuminated by colorful lights. My little treasure made a group of lovely friends here, and to this day, he still keeps in touch with a few of them. The Aqua Park Restaurant is a paradise for children. As the name suggests, this restaurant, located on the 14th deck, is right next to the children’s water play area.

The entire restaurant’s decor is filled with childlike charm, capturing the children’s attention. The restaurant’s menu fully considers the tastes of the little ones, with chefs using their skillful hands and professional knowledge to prepare a variety of nutritious and delicious dishes for the children. During meals, my son could spontaneously name most of the ingredients in English and was eager to review, showing off his vocabulary in food-related words during his VIPKID classes, which brought me great joy.

Laser Duel is definitely the preferred choice for slightly older boys. Laser Duel is somewhat similar to playing real-life CS, a favorite among children. Entering the venue feels like stepping into a futuristic world, with a dim environment and green lights creating a technological atmosphere. Inflatable toys act as partitions, allowing children to play safely and freely inside. The entire venue is like a maze, where children wear cool ‘interstellar gear’ and engage in a ‘duel’ between aliens and robots with laser guns. My son’s sense of immersion was particularly strong; he even created an impromptu story in English back in the room, which was a great surprise to me.

The South Pole Ball is located at the stern of the ship, facing the North Star across the way, and is one of the Spectrum’s signature attractions. Inside the South Pole Ball, there are four trampolines offering three exciting games: Robot Tug-of-War, Candy Jump Competition, and Bass Bodyguard. Wearing VR goggles and bouncing and flipping on the trampolines, one can experience the sensation of free-falling from the North Pole to the South Pole, an exhilarating feeling! Tips: Since bouncing on the trampoline requires straps on the thighs, it is recommended to wear long pants to avoid chafing and pain on the thighs.

After the thrilling experience at the South Pole Ball, with my feet still trembling, I couldn’t wait to visit the North Star. The North Star is the highest observation point on the entire cruise ship and one of the two major features of Spectrum, offering a 360-degree view of the entire vessel and the horizon. Although there is a charge, it is definitely worth experiencing! Tips: The North Star is extremely popular and, as expected, there are long queues. The Sky Pad on Spectrum is a big hit. Experiencing the thrill of soaring in a confined area of about ten meters is an unparalleled sensation. Before the experience, you will watch a safety video, then wear professional equipment and follow the instructor to enjoy the experience! By slightly raising your head in the wind tunnel, you can see the distant horizon. Tips: 1. You must change into tennis shoes, sports shoes, and socks before the experience; skateboard shoes are not allowed! 2. Accessories are not allowed to be brought in; you can ask a friend to help take pictures outside. 3. This is another thrilling project, so be mentally prepared!

When I learned that bumper cars were available on Spectrum, I was truly surprised. Thinking back, it has been several years since I last played bumper cars. When I sat in the bumper car again, I was already a mother. Sitting in the car, holding the steering wheel tightly with both hands, my son sat beside me. When the cars collided, I felt both thrilling and nervous, and my son screamed out loud. A round was truly exhilarating.

The elderly in the family do not like to join in the excitement and are not very interested in these thrilling entertainment projects. For them, a vacation means finding a quiet place to enjoy their own little life. Choosing a cruise trip also took this into account. As the sun sets, the elderly sit on the balcony lounge chairs, listening to the seagulls sing, which is truly very pleasant. Embarking on a sea journey, Spectrum offers plenty of water-based fun. With both indoor and outdoor swimming pools, the water is impeccably clean and clear to the bottom. Adjacent to the pools, rows of lounge chairs are arranged, bathed in sunlight streaming through the large glass roof, making the entire swimming area bright and inviting. In the evenings, the elderly in the family often enjoy a leisurely stroll by the pool when the sunlight is less intense. After a refreshing soak in the water, they can relax on the lounge chairs and savor the sea breeze.

We sometimes join them, with children splashing in the water and adults engaging in casual conversations about daily life.
