The Nanjing Workers’ Movement Memorial is the former site of the command post for the ‘February 7th’ general strike of workers on the two Pukou railways. Wang Hebo, an early leader of the Chinese workers’ movement, established the Chinese Workers’ Union among the workers of the Pukou Machine Factory. In 1923, Wang Hebo convened an emergency meeting here and decided to support the general strike on the Beijing-Hankou Railway. The command post was set up here. In May 2011, the former site of the command post was transformed into the Nanjing Workers’ Movement Memorial.
