Nanxi Ancient Village is located in a deep mountain canyon in Nanxi Village, Huayuanli Township, Dongzhi County, Anhui Province. It is 34 kilometers away from the county seat. More than 800 households of mysterious descendants of the Xiongnu tribe live in the depths of the mountains. It has a history of more than 1,100 years. Nanxi Ancient Village is also called Jinjia Village. Behind the village, nine mountain ranges swoop down and wind to the entrance of the village, forming three round mounds, resembling nine dragons playing with three pearls. Under the thousand-year-old camphor tree at the entrance of the village, there is a single-hole stone arch bridge, which is simple and elegant, adding a lot of poetic and picturesque flavor to the stockade. There are two such small bridges entering the village, which are called “three locks entering the village” by the villagers. Due to its remote location and blocked transportation, Nanxi Ancient Village was originally isolated from the world for a long time. It was not until October 2004 that a township-level highway was opened. More importantly, due to the influence of its special terrain, it has maintained a relatively closed and isolated state for a long time, and can well preserve the original state of the village.
