The Martyrs’ Memorial Arch of the National Revolutionary Army measures 32.7 meters in length, 16.6 meters in width, and stands at a height of 10 meters. It consists of five sections, all constructed with reinforced concrete and adorned with granite on the base, with green glazed tiles covering the top. The front central part of the arch is inscribed with the characters ‘Great Benevolence and Great Righteousness’, while the back is engraved with ‘Saving the Country and the People’.
On either side of the arch, there are a pair of stone tigers, which were gifted by the 17th Army of the National Revolutionary Army when the cemetery was built. The Martyrs’ Memorial Arch was built on the former site of the Linggu Temple’s Heavenly King Hall. The Heavenly King Hall was destroyed by war twice during the Qing Dynasty and was reconstructed in the 11th year of the Guangxu period (1885) with funds raised by the abbot Guanglian of Linggu Temple. It was later transformed into the Martyrs’ Memorial Arch during the construction of the Martyrs’ Cemetery. The site is open all year round and accessible 24 hours a day.National Revolutionary Army Martyrs’ Cemetery
