The former site of the New Fourth Army Jiangnan Command Headquarters, originally known as the Li Clan Ancestral Hall, was first constructed during the Ming Dynasty. The entire complex consists of three main sections and four side rooms, featuring carved windows, dougong brackets, and painted beams. After restoration, it has regained its historical appearance.
In the summer of 1938, the first and second brigades of the New Fourth Army advanced into the enemy’s rear in southern Jiangsu to conduct guerrilla warfare against the Japanese. In November of the following year, the New Fourth Army Jiangnan Command was established in Shuixi Village, unifying the command of the first and second brigades and local anti-Japanese forces, consolidating and developing the anti-Japanese base in southern Jiangsu.

The exhibition hall displays photos, artifacts, charts, and electronic models that reflect the combat history of the New Fourth Army’s Jiangnan troops as they penetrated the enemy’s rear in southern Jiangsu and created and developed the anti-Japanese base centered around Maoshan. Adjacent to the memorial hall is the Generals’ Pavilion, which exhibits the life stories of 76 New Fourth Army generals who were awarded the rank of major general or higher after the founding of the People’s Republic of China.

The first floor displays the life achievements of marshals and generals, along with over 80 precious photos from various historical periods, recreating their illustrious combat lives. The second floor features the biographies of 4 lieutenant generals, 8 major generals, and 62 brigadier generals, with exhibits including the telescopes, briefcases, and trophies used by the generals, as well as medals.

The site is open all year round, with full-day access.
