Summer vacation has arrived, and every year it presents me with the challenge of entertaining my child. Once the vacation begins, she spends her days at home, urging me to take her out for water play. The thought of playing in the water on a scorching day is appealing to both of us, but we are also wary of sunburn. Additionally, managing a child alone can be quite exhausting. I was on the lookout for a location that offered relaxation and a variety of activities that children enjoy.
After an extensive search, Baoyan Paradise emerged as the ideal choice for us. Located in Shanghai, Baoyan boasts the city’s largest indoor four-season constant temperature water park, eliminating the need to worry about weather conditions. A single ticket grants access to the water park, castle park, and petting zoo, but an advance appointment is necessary to enter the park. Let’s explore this paradise together!
*The flagship store of Baoyan Paradise is situated at No. 11, Lane 3825, Dushi Road, Minhang District. Accessible by subway or car, the parking lot is free for the first four hours, with a charge of 6 yuan per hour for every hour thereafter.*
Upon arrival, after parking, I checked in at the front desk, where each of us received a paper bracelet that allowed us to move in and out of the park freely. My child, JoJo, was already brimming with excitement before even entering the park. This place is truly a haven for children, and I too looked forward to a liberating and novel parent-child outing experience.
*Five-star Four-Season Constant Temperature Water Park (3rd and 4th floors)*
Summer is synonymous with water play, and I had done my homework before bringing JoJo to Baoyan Paradise. The park offers a plethora of indoor entertainment facilities, including a sizable indoor four-season constant temperature water park, maintained at a comfortable 37 degrees. It’s clean and inviting. For the water park, you’ll need to prepare swimsuits, swim caps, and bath towels, but if you forget, the park has them available for purchase.
We indulged in a meal before diving into the water. JoJo couldn’t wait to start playing. As soon as we entered, we were greeted by an array of slides, providing an intimate connection with the water. The super-long rainbow slide and various other shapes are popular spots for photos. Playing in the water during summer doesn’t require worrying about adverse weather conditions. The indoor water park is a paradise for children to play, and parents can more easily supervise them.
JoJo and I tried the slides together, an activity she had been hesitant about before. This time, she truly impressed me. It seems that a child’s growth can occur in an instant, triggered by a seemingly insignificant event. Besides the slides, the water park offers numerous other water-based activities. Adults can join their children for parent-child interaction, or children can play with friends using water guns. JoJo particularly enjoys slides, both wet and dry. The children’s area features several different slides that keep her entertained, and she often asks me to join her.
Before we knew it, most of the day had passed, yet JoJo showed no signs of fatigue. The gentle small slides, fountains, and seesaws are more to her liking. Usually, we are too busy with work to take her out to play, so we must cherish the rare parent-child time during the summer vacation to nurture our relationship. I played with JoJo throughout the day, experiencing everything together. I observed many parents in the children’s area, engaging with their children and, when tired, sitting and chatting in the water. This approach to childcare is truly comfortable. Regardless of age, children can find their favorite activities and scenic spots for photos and social media check-ins at the water park. In this way, an entire afternoon can pass by effortlessly.
Perhaps because I was actively playing with JoJo, she appeared extremely excited. Sometimes she attempted to swim on her own, and even when she swallowed some water, she remained brave. Seeing her smile so happily filled me with satisfaction. When tired from playing, we would head to the massage pool to relax and unwind. Baoyan Paradise truly understands the needs of parents, which is why it’s always so popular!
*Interesting Slide Paradise (1st floor)*
Baoyan Paradise spans five floors and offers an immense variety of attractions. For me, in summer, there’s no need to be exposed to the sun while taking my child out, and we can enjoy air conditioning throughout. It’s a great blessing. The first floor is the slide paradise, which JoJo also enjoys immensely. (For the slide paradise, long clothes, long pants, and floor socks are required to prevent scratches and slips.)
While many paradises have slides, Baoyan Paradise boasts an innumerable amount, making it difficult to count them all. It’s like a slide castle, with more than a dozen slides of different colors and heights arranged in order. JoJo, excitedly changing into anti-slip socks, pulls me towards the starting point of the slides. She actually chose a relatively high slide, one she’s never tried before. I can see a bit of fear in her eyes, but unexpectedly, she overcomes her timidity and takes the first step bravely. Superb!
Some slides are quite high, including a 90-degree vertical slide that looks extremely exciting. Children of all ages, from JoJo’s age to older, can find their own happiness here. Adjacent to the slides is a VR experience area with extremely cool lighting effects. Children can sit on it and put on VR glasses to start a wonderful experience.
After playing on the slides, JoJo and I visited the Super cute Pet Paradise on the 1st floor. There are all kinds of small animals here, making it an indoor pet paradise. JoJo carefully feeds them one by one after buying grass and carrots that the animals love to eat (feeding requires wearing small gloves). Initially, she was a bit afraid of alpacas, but her courage grew bigger and bigger. She accepts and feeds all the animals, big and small, quite seriously and responsibly. The pet paradise is home to alpacas, little rabbits, cats, hedgehogs, birds, and more. The names and introductions of the animals are marked in each area, allowing children to learn new knowledge while feeding them.
On the 2nd floor, we found the Dreamy Naughty Castle Paradise. Everywhere you look is a sea of macaron-colored balls, with a candy castle in the ocean ball pool containing various small slides. This place is perfect for children JoJo’s age. My friend and I were pulled into the ocean ball pool by JoJo, and we played on the slides and threw balls at each other. It’s really super healing. I felt like I returned to my childhood, with my troubles instantly forgotten. When tired, I could sit down and rest on a chair nearby while JoJo played in the ocean balls alone for half a day, freeing my hands and making childcare worry-free.
There’s also a painting area in the naughty castle. JoJo loves Peppa Pig, so she’s going to use colors to doodle a picture of Peppa Pig and take it home. The staff at Baoyan are extremely careful, explaining to JoJo how to draw, just as kind as a teacher. Look at how seriously JoJo is drawing: first a yellow balloon, then blue clothes on Peppa. As for me, I can just sit and rest and read my favorite book. A painting takes about half an hour, and the finished product is not bad and can be taken back. If you don’t like drawing pictures, you can also draw such dolls, which helps cultivate children’s perception of colors and patience from an early age.
After finishing drawing, JoJo continues to play. The naughty castle is very large, and you can also meet many strange children. Nowadays, many children are easy to get along with, unlike when we were young when we were relatively shy. There are ocean balls, trampolines, and various adventure games. This place is really decompressing. Nowadays, children generally have to take many classes since childhood. Coming here to play during holidays is really suitable.
Next to the naughty castle is the parent-child restaurant. When JoJo is tired from jumping on the trampoline, it’s also time for a meal. Here you can order various snacks, drinks, and desserts that children like. Even the color tone of the restaurant is pink and very dreamy.
After having enough to eat and drink, we come to the Super Fun Amusement Area on the 2nd floor. There are many fun experiences here. You need to exchange game coins at the counter and then you can enjoy all the projects you like. The bumper cars are free. Children are generally more interested in bumper cars and motorcycles. These two experience items are very popular, especially among boys. They always want to play again after playing. In addition, the building block world is also very good. The building blocks here are relatively large, and the venue is also very large. It is an educational project. JoJo is still too young to play, but she watched other elder brothers and sisters play for a long time. JoJo said she wanted me to play with her. So we chose a super fun vehicle that can spray water to put out fires. And if the spraying accuracy is high, there is a reward!
Finally, going up to the fifth floor is the outdoor experience area. Walking up there is like returning to the Jurassic world. Climbing, small trains, pirate ships, etc., are all very suitable for children.Upon exiting the elevator on the fifth floor, you’ll find a small blackboard displaying the opening hours. It’s advisable to check the time in advance before lining up. The carousel is particularly enjoyable for little girls, as evidenced by JoJo’s beaming smile. Baoyan, as an amusement park, truly encompasses a variety of experiences. It’s rare to find another place where you can easily take your children and fulfill all their desires. What’s more valuable is that during the play, I witnessed the growth of my child and discovered a new aspect of their personality. I will definitely bring my child back here if time permits.
During the summer months of July and August, the business hours are as follows: Weekdays 9:30 – 19:30, and weekends 9:30 – 20:30. The water park operates from 11:00 to 18:00.
For transportation, Baoyan Paradise Flagship Store is located at No. 11, Lane 3825, Dushi Road, Minhang District. You have the option to take the subway or drive to reach the destination.
