According to the scripture ‘Sutra of the Original Deeds’, when the Buddha was born, he could talk and walk. He took seven steps in each of the four directions of east, south, west, and north. With each step he took, a lotus flower bloomed on the ground. Pointing one finger to the sky and one finger to the ground, he said, ‘In heaven and on earth, I alone am honored.’ At this time, two pools of water suddenly appeared in the garden, and nine giant dragons appeared in the sky, spouting water columns to bathe and purify him. This story is very magical and evokes endless reverie. Even more难得的是, the large-scale musical dynamic group sculpture ‘Nine Dragons Bathing Ceremony, Flower Blooming to See the Buddha’ in Lingshan Scenic Area reproduces the magnificent scene in the story. In the Nine Dragons Bathing Ceremony Square, we can see a huge copper sculpture of a lotus flower in bud standing in front. The huge lotus flower is held up by four mighty strongmen. The bottom is set off by a white circular marble pool. Nine flying dragons and eight donors with different postures surround the huge pool.
