The Drum Tower, also known as Haishu Tower, is the only remaining ancient city gate tower in Ningbo. Its lower part features the traditional Chinese city gate style, while the upper part boasts a Roman-style bell tower, creating a unique fusion of Eastern and Western architectural styles.
Surrounding the Drum Tower is an antique-style pedestrian shopping area where Ningbo’s specialty snacks, such as Youzan Zi, are worth tasting. The area around the Drum Tower and nearby Park Road has become a hub for major cultural activities in Ningbo, with frequent exhibitions of paintings, calligraphy, and photographs held inside the tower. On both sides of the road, shops imitate the traditional Ningbo architectural style, featuring small green tile double-slope roofs, wind-fire horse head walls, and various delicate exterior wood decorations. These elements not only maintain the appearance of traditional Ningbo commercial streets but also carry a strong sense of historical and cultural texture. At the eastern and western entrances, two ancient stone archways, along with the city wall ruins, stone tablets documenting the historical changes of the Zi City, and the nearby Yongfengku Site Park, offer visitors a chance to delve into Ningbo’s history. At night, the area around the Drum Tower becomes very lively, and the night view is particularly suitable for photography when the landscape lights are turned on. The Drum Tower is open all year round from 9:00 to 17:00, with specific business status subject to the day’s opening conditions.Ningbo Drum Tower
