Summer vacation is here. The mythical beasts that have just returned to the ‘cage’ soon become the Monkey King again at home, full of energy. Parents start to rack their brains again. Where can they take their naughty kids to escape the summer heat on a hot summer day? In my opinion, theme amusement parks are one of the best places for taking kids out. During this period, I have been taking Yuanbao to various amusement parks. If we talk about the most fun indoor amusement park in Shanghai, the flagship store of Baoyan Amusement Park must be on the list. It integrates slide parks, building block parks, water parks, naughty castle parks, petting zoos and so on. There are also parent-child restaurants, baking classrooms and other options available. It solves multiple needs of families for taking kids out, such as eating, drinking, playing, having fun and learning in one stop.
Last week, I took Yuanbao to play in Baoyan Amusement Park for almost a whole day. From the rainbow slide to the naughty castle, from the constant temperature water park to the outdoor climbing nets and merry-go-rounds, the rich and colorful projects made Yuanbao reluctant to leave. Looking at his innocent happy smile, I also seem to return to my childhood. Yes, I am also eager to challenge the nearly vertical slide of 90 degrees. It’s extremely exciting. Once you slide down, you will fall in love with it. Not to mention the rainbow slide in the indoor constant temperature water park. The water splashes everywhere. This is the refreshing and enjoyable summer!
Transportation information.
Baoyan Amusement Park (flagship store) address: No. 11, Lane 3825, Dushi Road, Minhang District, Shanghai.
Metro travel: Get off at Yindu Road on Line 5 and exit from Exit 2. However, it’s a bit of a walk, about 15 minutes.
Self-driving: The parking lot of Baoyan is free for 4 hours. If it exceeds 4 hours, it is 6 yuan per hour.
Preparations before departure.
1. Long-sleeved clothes and long pants: For the purpose of protecting the skin, both adults and children need to wear long-sleeved clothes and long pants to play on the slides on the first floor. There are no exceptions. There are staff to check. If you really don’t have a long-sleeved top, there are free sleeve covers available on site.
2. Socks: When entering the play area, you need to change shoes and cannot be barefoot. Adults and children need to wear socks. It’s the same in summer. If you don’t bring any, there are socks for sale in the park.
3. Swimsuits and bath towels: You need to wear swimsuits to play in the water park. There are slippers inside, but there are no towels. You need to bring your own towels and bath towels. There are swimsuits and swimming rings for sale in the small store outside the water park. If you really don’t bring any, you can also buy them on site.
4. Kids sweat easily. Bring a set of comfortable and easy-to-move clothes for replacement.
Admission information.
1. Ticket purchase: There are many channels to buy tickets for Baoyan Amusement Park. Many OTA platforms sell them. But the most favorable way is to follow the official account or mini program of ‘Baoyan Amusement Park’. It is 380 yuan for one adult and one child, and 480 yuan for two adults and one child.
2. Bag Storage and Shoe Changing: Baoyan has three bag storage areas, located at the shoe-changing areas on the first and second floors and the changing rooms of the water park on the third and fourth floors. The changing rooms of the water park on the third and fourth floors also have parent-child changing rooms, which solves the extremely inconvenient problem of traditional changing rooms when mothers bring male babies and fathers bring female babies.
3. The business hours of Baoyan Amusement Park are divided into summer vacation and non-summer vacation periods. From July 1 to the end of August, the business hours of Baoyan Amusement Park are adjusted to summer vacation business hours, from 9:30 to 20:30. The business hours of the water park are from 11:00 to 18:00.
Play Guide
First floorThis time, he has the courage to challenge the 45-degree blue ocean ball slide. He is very calm and extremely happy, probably having played it about a dozen or twenty times. The rainbow corridor is very safe, and in addition to the slide paradise on the first floor, there is also a 5D cinema and a dynamic VR paradise. Wearing VR glasses, I experienced a roller coaster in the clouds; it was truly immersive.
In addition, there is a petting zoo that is deeply loved by children, with fluffy and cute alpacas and meerkats that look very similar to aliens in shape. The immersive indoor landscaping can let children feel a vibrant animal world.
On the second floor, the first thing that catches the eye is the huge naughty castle. The ground is covered with yellow and white ocean balls, and red and white slides are interspersed among them. The colorful colors are just like a colorful fairy tale world. The naughty castle is always favored by children, who crawl and roll in the world of ocean balls and slides. The layout of the rope net tribe is very similar to being on a tropical island, with hammocks and swings full of vacation style. The trampoline is reasonably divided into several trampoline areas, allowing children to play in their respective areas and avoid many potential safety hazards.
The building block area is located in the middle area of the second floor. The colorful building blocks can be transformed into infinite shapes, not only exercising children’s hand-eye coordination ability but also helping them establish the concept of numbers and spatial perception ability.
Bumper cars in the amusement park are likely a favorite among children, with their cute and interesting cartoon-shaped bodies. They test the coordination of direction and allow children to grasp the mutual nature of forces through collisions. On the second floor, there is a baking classroom where children interested in cooking can experience the joy of making cookies by hand and even take their creations home. With protective measures in place throughout the facility, parents are not required to follow their children constantly. If fathers accompany the visit, mothers can enjoy a complimentary nail spa at one corner of the second floor.
The indoor water park on the third and fourth floors, connected together, covers an area of over 20,000 square meters. It is unaffected by wind, rain, cold, or heat, and can accommodate at least 300 visitors at a time. In the hot summer, it is an ideal place for both children and adults to escape the heat. The central rainbow slide is quite spectacular, standing 5 meters high and 32 meters long, offering a thrilling experience of rapids and adventure. I enjoyed this with Yuanbao as we plunged down from a height, splashing water everywhere, as if reclaiming our long-lost childhood innocence. Yuanbao’s favorite is the cute and tender lake exploration area, which features slides of varying lengths suitable for children. There are seesaws in the water, cute mushrooms, interesting small animals, and tiger-head teapots, among other things. The constant-temperature SPA is perfect for relaxation, where one can lazily lie in the pool and take the opportunity to relieve fatigue.
The outdoor experience park on the fifth floor mainly features outdoor attractions, including the usual carousel, pirate ship, climbing nets, and mini-train, as well as a large outdoor grass sliding area. Unfortunately, the Magic City is still in the plum rain season, with intermittent rain making the grass wet and closed. I have visited twice without experiencing the grass sliding, it seems I am destined to revisit this place. The outdoor park is also a magical kingdom with animal themes, featuring realistic shapes of swords, tyrannosaurs, and spiny dinosaurs, and even the carousel is filled with animal elements such as gibbons and zebras. In addition, there are paid special projects – a children’s horse-walking field, where children can become little knights and feed carrots to the horses for an intimate contact. Yuanbao’s favorite is the lively mini-train, which travels between the jungle and caves, accompanied by cheerful music, and we have ridden it several times back and forth.
For most parents who bring their children to Baoyan Paradise, they usually spend a whole day there, and Baoyan Paradise offers a variety of delicious food to choose from. The parent-child Western restaurant on the second floor has an elegant environment with bright colors, offering fast food and set meals. There are also delicious juices suitable for lunch and afternoon tea, providing a quick energy boost. On the first floor, the Baoyan Seafood Processing Market offers an array of fresh seafood such as abalones, bread crabs, and razor clams. There’s even Australian lobster available for purchase and on-site processing, providing delicious and affordable meals perfect for the whole family after a day of fun.
The special service of the nursery rest room at Baoyan allows children to take a nap after playing. Additionally, there is a meticulously designed birthday room for kids. If you’re tired of traditional birthday celebrations at restaurants, consider a unique birthday experience at Baoyan.
Spending a wonderful and joyful day at Baoyan Paradise with our child, Yuanbao, was a delight. This was our second visit here, and it’s imaginable that there will definitely be a third and fourth time. Compared to two years ago, Yuanbao’s expression and action abilities have improved by leaps and bounds, and he has already started talking about wanting to go to Baoyan Paradise again. A child’s happiness and smile cannot be faked, and I have no doubt that Baoyan Paradise is the fairy tale parade in Yuanbao’s childhood itself.
