The Taizhou Old Street is located in the southeast corner of the ancient city of Taizhou. It is a pedestrian street in the style of the Ming and Qing dynasties by the Fengcheng River. The street is about 600 meters long and is lined with shops on both sides. Most of them are snack bars, restaurants, and local specialty stores that are closely related to the lives of local people. There is no commercial atmosphere of tourist attractions here.

On the contrary, many shops are old stores that have been in business for many years. They are inexpensive and good. Strolling here is very leisurely and relaxing. At the corner of the old street is a small street square. There is an ancient opera tower on the square. There are some teahouses around where you can take a break. A small stream flows by the square. There is an antique waterwheel in the stream.

When tourists come to the old street, the local delicacies that Taizhou people are proud of, such as straw stove sesame seed cakes, Taizhou shredded dried tofu, and eight delicacies of Qinhu Lake, must not be missed. At the same time, you can also taste various delicacies from all over the country such as Yunnan Crossing-the-Bridge Rice Noodles and Chongqing hot pot. Here, you can enjoy delicious food and also enjoy the scenery of the Fengcheng River.

The taste is indescribable. At night, the old street is even more charming against the backdrop of landscape lights. Walking about 200 meters inward from the entrance of the old street is the entrance to the Fengcheng Taoyuan scenic area. This is a theme park built locally to commemorate Kong Shangren’s writing of ‘The Peach Blossom Fan’ in Taizhou. Not far away, the Mei Lanfang Park shows the artistic life of the Peking Opera master Mei Lanfang with various materials and objects.

If you have enough time, it is recommended to visit them together. Open all year round and open all day.
