The Old Wharf is located on the banks of the Huangpu River in Puxi. It was originally the ‘Shiliupu Wharf’, stretching from Waima Road in the east to Zhongshan South Road in the west, Maojiayuan Road in the north and Xinnmatou Road in the south. The riverside alleys and old-fashioned Shikumen communities here are filled with stories of tycoons in Shanghai. After renovation, the former boiler room, staff bathhouse, and dilapidated factory buildings have now been transformed into characteristic bars, theme restaurants, individual retail stores, and creative workshops, completely transforming into a trendy and cutting-edge place on the South Bund of Shanghai.
The Old Wharf is currently divided into two areas, the square and the creative park. The square is somewhat similar to Xintiandi. Foreigners from all over the world can be seen everywhere. Fortunately, the overall layout here is relatively open. Usually, there are not so many tourists and it is not so noisy. The old Shanghai style combined with some modern and unique creative elements has made this a place where many fashionable young people take wedding photos and hold weddings. At the same time, it also attracts many photography enthusiasts to come here for inspiration frequently. Creative small landscapes can be seen everywhere in the square, such as stools carved in the shape of English letters, bright red human-shaped sculptures, oversized kettles and wooden tea-tasting tables. It is worth mentioning the fountain in the middle of the park. The water in the pool can be drained, and the middle passage can be used as a catwalk. Many fashion shows have been staged here. The creative park area introduces elements such as creative product workshops, pioneer artist studios, and business offices. At present, many very distinctive creative and fashionable stores and art galleries have been introduced. The Old Wharf is relatively quiet during the day, mostly visited by tourists. You can take pictures in the park or walk along the railing by the wharf, enjoy the river breeze, and overlook the Lujiazui Financial and Trade Zone on the opposite side. If you are tired, you can choose an outdoor coffee shop, order a cup of coffee, and taste the slow life. Of course, the scenery at night is also not to be missed. As the lights come on, you can choose restaurants with terraces like Mythos and Long House, enjoy the panoramic view of the Huangpu River while tasting delicious food. The Oriental Pearl Tower and Jinmao Tower are in full view. There is all kinds of delicious food here. No matter which country it is from, it will make you unforgettable. At night, if you still have energy, you can go to some small bars along the river and experience the nightlife of Shanghai. Open all year round and open 24 hours a day.Must Read
