Located at the eastern end of Century Avenue in Pudong, adjacent to the Shanghai Science and Technology Museum and Century Park, the Oriental Art Center presents itself as a cluster of glass mega-bowls from afar, and from a bird’s-eye view, it resembles five blooming petals, especially enchanting at night with the illumination of lights. The interior of the performance hall is elegantly and splendidly decorated.

You can enjoy a variety of artistic performances such as symphonies, ballets, musicals, operas, and dramas in this refined environment, immersing in an atmosphere of high culture. For attending performances, tickets can be purchased online through the official website or directly at the box office.

It is recommended that audience members dress neatly for the performance. In case of missing the entry time, you may watch the performance through the live LCD screen at the entrance of the performance hall, but entry into the hall can only be made during intermissions with the assistance of staff. The main entrance offers luggage storage services, and there are restaurants and cafes providing light meals and Western pastries, though beverages and food are not allowed inside the performance hall.

The Oriental Art Center boasts state-of-the-art stages, sound, and lighting equipment, having hosted concerts by the Berlin Philharmonic and the Vienna Philharmonic, two of the world’s leading orchestras. Designed by the renowned French architect Paul Andreu, the building features a metal sandwich glass curtain wall and is equipped with over 880 embedded ceiling lights at the top. As beautiful melodies resonate in the concert hall, the lights change in accordance with the music.

The five hemispherical structures are: the main hall entrance, Oriental Performance Hall, Oriental Concert Hall, Oriental Opera Hall, and the exhibition hall. The Oriental Performance Hall has 333 seats with a stepped auditorium style reminiscent of ancient Roman theaters, allowing performers and audiences to be closer; the Oriental Concert Hall has 1953 seats surrounding the stage and houses one of the largest pipe organs in China; the Oriental Opera Hall, with a large area of red as the main tone, has 1020 seats and is equipped with various liftable, rotatable, and movable stage devices to meet the needs of various performances. Additionally, there are dressing rooms and rehearsal halls, as well as an exhibition hall suitable for art exhibitions.

The center does not accept in-hall visits during opening hours, but the ticket hall can be visited; for performances, entry can be made according to the performance schedule. For specific details, please consult by phone.
