The Oriental Pearl Tower stands tall in Lujiazui, Pudong, Shanghai, facing the Bund across the river, and is a landmark of the city. Dining at the 267-meter high revolving restaurant while enjoying the night view of Shanghai offers an extraordinary experience.
Standing at 468 meters tall, the tower is composed of 11 spheres of varying sizes strung together, inspired by the poetic imagery of ‘large and small pearls falling onto a jade plate.’ By ascending to the three main spheres, visitors can appreciate the urban scenery of both banks of the Huangpu River from different heights, especially from the 259-meter high transparent observation deck, which offers a unique ‘skywalk’ experience to enjoy the panoramic view of Shanghai.
Visiting the observation deck at night to feel the vibrant colors of the ‘city that never sleeps’ under the night sky is an unforgettable pleasure. The Oriental Pearl Tower is also a small world of entertainment, cuisine, exhibitions, and shopping. The Shanghai Urban Development History Exhibition on the tower’s base offers insights into the modern history of Shanghai; the 95-meter ‘high-altitude VR roller coaster’ provides a thrilling ride.
When tired from the activities, one can enjoy a variety of global cuisines at the revolving restaurant while watching live cooking demonstrations. At the end of the journey, visitors can purchase souvenirs at the specialty goods floor, or buy a postcard and stamp it with the airpost office’s seal to send to themselves or to friends and family they wish to bless.
