**Reflections on the Vacation:**
Alas, why does happy time pass so quickly? The spring outing that I promised my daughter for a long time finally took place in May. When choosing the destination, I considered for a long time and finally chose the Sun Island Resort Hotel near Zhujiajiao Ancient Town. Here are my reasons:
1. The parent-child hotel is suitable for a family of three.
2. It is really rare to find a hotel where pets can stay.
3. Sun Island is the nearest parent-child resort to downtown Shanghai.
So, a group of three people and our 16-month-old dog Coco set off for Qingpu District in a mighty way!
**Sun Island History and Location:**
Sun Island is located near Zhujiajiao Ancient Town around Shanghai. Originally called Mao Island, there were traces of human life on the island dating back to the Western Zhou Dynasty in China. The island is connected to the Mao River, Taipu River, Dianshan Lake, Huangpu River, and the Taihu Lake Basin, making it an important landmark for ships traveling in the three water areas. In May, the vegetation on the island is lush, the willows are green, and the grass is everywhere, giving it a bit of the flavor of April’s beauty and a paradise.
**Travel Routes:**
We drove from downtown Shanghai to Sun Island via the Shanghai-Chongqing Expressway. It takes about an hour’s drive and is very convenient. If you don’t drive, you can also take Line 17 and get off at Zhujiajiao Town. After getting off, you can take a taxi or transfer to a bus.
**Accommodation:**
The check-in lobby and villa area of Sun Island are separated. After completing the procedures, you can drive or take a short shuttle bus on the island to your room. We chose the club parent-child room close to the river, which is 71 square meters and very spacious. The room is equipped with a capsule coffee machine and free soft drinks, and a bottle of red wine produced by the hotel’s brother brand is given. The room has a bunk bed design, a double bed + a baby bed. The bathroom has an independent bathtub, children’s special toothbrush and toothpaste, and a child’s toilet seat.
**Pet Paradise:**
After putting down our luggage, we took Coco straight to the pet paradise. The pet paradise is divided into indoor and outdoor areas. Indoors, you can have afternoon tea for your dog, play on the climbing frame and in the ocean ball pool. Outdoors is a super large lawn for letting the dog run around. Dogs can also swim here. It is a professional pet swimming pool with different depths. Sun Island offers pet boarding and pet training services. Coco was boarded here for an afternoon. The staff was very patient and gave him biscuits and yogurt.
**Mermaid Train:**
After leaving the pet paradise, I took my daughter to ride the Mermaid Train. The train is composed of blue and white colors, with colorful paintings on both sides of the carriage, full of childlike innocence. It stops at three stations throughout the journey: the hotel lobby, Mermaid Wharf, and Little Green Space. With a ticket, one can ride all day, enjoying the scenery of the island and feeling refreshed.
**Dining:**
On the first day, the whole family tried a small hot pot for dinner. Each person had their own pot, with a set meal including vegetables, meat, fish, and shellfish. The pork bone broth was thick and rich. It is said that the vegetables were organically grown on the island and were very crisp, and combined with meat and seafood, it was enough to eat. If you feel not full, you can add a staple food, unlimited. The next morning’s breakfast was eaten in the hotel’s buffet restaurant, which must be praised as very high quality in the hotel.

**Chinese and Western Cuisine:**
Both Chinese and Western styles are available at the resort, with the open noodles and rice noodles being particularly delicious. The self-made soy milk and yogurt are unique, and if you want Western food, there are also salads and bread. The whole family ate very satisfied.
**Play/Entertainment:**
I heard before coming that the equestrian club of Shanghai Sun Island is very famous. After breakfast on the second day, I took my daughter to go horse riding. At first, my daughter was a bit scared when she saw a big horse, but later the staff brought a pony for her to ride, and she fell in love with it. Protective gear will be worn before getting on the horse, and the staff will lead the horse throughout the process, ensuring safety and a great time for the baby.
I saw many children learning professional horse riding at the horse farm (Shanghai Sun Island Equestrian Club), which is very handsome. There are many places on the island suitable for children to play, and we chose to go to the Ingenuity Pavilion to do handicrafts first. There are teaching teachers and tool kits, and you just need to follow the steps. We chose a soft pottery and a leather bag, and both were successfully completed!
**Water Sports and Dining:**
In May, the weather is already quite hot, and many people have gathered at Mermaid Wharf, making water sports a popular activity. The three-person family rented a water bicycle, which was very pleasant and leisurely. Lunch was chosen at the Waterfall Western Restaurant on the first floor of the lobby. We were not very hungry after eating too much in the morning. I ordered a special children’s meal for my daughter, with special utensils for children, freshly made burgers, and fruit juice, which were very popular. My husband and I tried the new dirty milk, a dessert made with fresh milk and fruit, which was very good to have a cup of cold and cool in early summer.
**Shanghai Sun Island Resort:**
In general, Shanghai Sun Island Resort is a good place to relax and escape the noise. In the environment where the urban air quality is generally poor, it is rare to have such a pure land. In addition to some areas that still need to be improved, the rest is good. Many office workers will go on vacation on weekends, so it is necessary to book rooms in advance.
