Penglai Immortal Cave, also known as Arhat Cave, formerly named Shen’s Cave, is a large-scale karst cave featuring multi-levels, multi-stages, and diverse accumulation forms. With a total length of over 3000 meters and an area of more than 20,000 square meters, the cave presents an interlaced structure, divided into four levels: the Heavenly Cave, the Middle Cave, the Earth Cave, and the underground river. It boasts unique shapes, twists and turns, and a grand presence, with beautiful scenery scattered throughout. The cave includes more than ten scenic spots such as the Welcome Hall, Sea Exploration Corridor, East Sea Dragon Palace, Transparent Palace, Immortal Palace, Jade Pavilion Palace, Milky Way Corridor, Jade Pool, South Sea, Tide Sound Hall, and Farewell Hall, all presenting a splendid display.


The Earth Cave is home to variously shaped giant stones and a ceaseless underground river. The 9-meter tall giant stalactite, known as ‘Landing Golden Bell,’ is majestic and spectacular. The Middle Cave is filled with exquisite stalactite groups, resembling objects and human figures with vivid detail. The Heavenly Cave is grand and magnificent, with winding and secluded passages, and peculiar landscapes. The cave walls bear numerous inscriptions and poems dating back to the Ming Dynasty. The cave’s interior is filled with unique landscapes, while the exterior offers beautiful mountains and clear waters, creating a harmonious blend of internal and external scenery that is indeed enchanting.


The main characteristics of Penglai Immortal Cave scenic area are its majestic grandeur, spectacular presence; beautiful scenery, captivating to visitors; and complex structure with rugged cave paths. The pure white ‘Gossamer Curtain,’ the golden and translucent ‘Heavenly Threads,’ the large-scale three-dimensional ‘Landscape Murals,’ and the exquisite and majestic ‘Thousand Buddha Mountain’ form the four wonders of Penglai, acclaimed as the foremost among the Shitai karst cave groups. It can be called a natural geological museum, with the saying, ‘After returning from Yellow Mountain, one does not look at other mountains; after returning from Penglai, one does not look at other caves.’ The opening hours are from March 8th to October 31st, 07:30-17:00; and from November 1st to March 7th, 08:00-17:00.
