Pengzu Park, also known as Pengyuan for short, is located to the east of Yunlong Lake in Xuzhou. It is adjacent to Yunlong Mountain in the west. It is named ‘Pengzu Park’ to commemorate Pengzu, the ancestor of Xuzhou. In the northern part of the park is Fushan Mountain, and in the southern part is Shoushan Mountain. Neither mountain is very high. The environment is very good with lush trees. Locals often come here for walking, climbing mountains and flying kites. There is also Xuzhou Amusement Park and Xuzhou Zoo in the park, which are paradises for children. The east-west road between Fushan and Shoushan runs through the park. The east side leads to the east gate and the west side leads to the west gate. Near the west gate stands the statue of Pengzu. It doesn’t matter which gate you enter the park from. At the southern foot of Fushan is Pengzu Temple where you can worship Pengzu. On the top of Shoushan is Dapeng Pavilion with three floors. To the west of Fushan is the delicate Bulao Lake. You can visit the Xuzhou Celebrity Hall at the northern end of Bulao Lake. Inside are Xuzhou celebrities such as Pengzu and King Xuyan. Tourists with children may wish to go to Xuzhou Amusement Park in the south of the east gate. The amusement facilities such as roller coasters and bumper cars inside need to be paid for separately. You can also go to Xuzhou Zoo at the southern end of the park. You need to buy another ticket. The zoo is not small and there are quite a few animals. There are also animal shows to watch. The vegetation of Pengzu Park is also a major highlight of the park. The Plum Garden, also known as Qiaochun Garden, is located between the west gate of Pengzu Park and the zoo. You can enjoy plum blossoms in winter. The most famous one is the cherry blossoms in Pengzu Park. The cherry blossom forest scenic area is at the northern end of the park. At the northern foot of Fushan is the Sino-Japanese friendship cherry blossom forest. The scale is not very large, but it does not affect the beautiful scenery when the flowers bloom from March to April.
