Powerlong Museum in Shanghai adheres to the spirit of ‘promoting the essence of traditional culture and advancing the development of contemporary art’. It is a comprehensive, private non-profit art museum that showcases modern and contemporary art, covering an area of 23,000 square meters and featuring ten exhibition halls ranging from 500 to 1,100 square meters. The museum focuses on exploring the cultural lineage of the East as its core academic positioning, and strives to make the museum a good platform for cultural and artistic display and exchange through various activities such as art exhibitions, academic exchanges, and public education. On November 18, 2017, the museum officially opened with two exhibitions: ‘Shucanglou Collection Exhibition’ and ‘Powerlong Museum Opening Exhibition’. The ‘Shucanglou Collection Exhibition’ mainly collects the finest works of modern and contemporary national calligraphy and painting masters. As a permanent exhibition of the museum, it formally showcases to the public, systematically displaying the representative works of artists from various regions and schools in China over the past century, including more than a hundred pieces by famous artists such as Qi Baishi, Wu Hufan, Huang Yongyu, and Huang Zhou. The opening exhibition, themed ‘Tracing the Pulse, Creating Mountains’, provides a comprehensive review and outlook on the not yet fully unfolded history of Eastern modern and contemporary art in China, covering various art forms from ancient to modern, including painting, calligraphy, sculpture, architecture, gardens, images, as well as opera and the guqin. Opening hours: Closed all day on Mondays throughout the year; Open from 10:00 to 18:00 from Tuesdays to Sundays throughout the year.
