Pu Yuan Garden, constructed in the 1930s by businessman Wang Zhaoming, is a Republic of China era architecture and a relatively youthful garden in this ancient city.
Having weathered storms and occupations, including by the Japanese forces, Pu Yuan served as a sanatorium in the 1950s and later belonged to the Suzhou Municipal Health Bureau’s Epidemic Prevention Station. By the end of 2004, it was handed over to the Municipal Bureau of Culture, Radio, and Television for use and management.
Currently, the garden houses several units, including the Jiangsu Province Suzhou Kunqu Opera House, Suzhou Printmaking Institute, Suzhou Sichuan-Chongqing Chamber of Commerce, Taohuawu Folklore Museum, and Taohuawu Woodblock New Year Picture Museum.
Opening hours and business status are subject to daily operations.
