Located on the Xuhui campus of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, the Qian Xuesen Library covers a total land area of 9,300 square meters, with a total construction area of 8,188 square meters, including one underground floor and three above-ground floors, with an exhibition area of over 3,000 square meters. The basic exhibition is divided into four parts: the founder of China’s space industry, the pioneer of the frontier of science and technology, the demeanor of a people’s scientist, and the successful path of a strategic scientist. The library houses over 76,000 documents, manuscripts, and books of Comrade Qian Xuesen, more than 1,500 precious photos, and over 700 physical objects.
The library is equipped with cultural facilities such as a resource hall, thematic exhibition hall, and academic exchange hall. Opening hours are as follows: Closed all day on Mondays throughout the year; Open from 09:00 to 17:00 from Tuesdays to Sundays throughout the year; Open from 09:00 to 17:00 on New Year’s Day, Spring Festival, Qingming Festival, Labor Day, Dragon Boat Festival, Mid-Autumn Festival, and National Day. Service facilities include WiFi: Account: i-shanghai; Password: Obtained by registering through official scenic area channels and receiving a text message login password, accessible via a unified portal website for wireless internet access. Audio guide rental: 1. The Qian Xuesen Library provides rental services for self-service audio guides for visitors. 2. The self-service audio guides currently have detailed information about the exhibits and can provide narration in both Chinese and English, with a total guide content duration of 60 minutes. 3. To rent a self-service audio guide, please proceed to the front desk service center to handle the rental procedures, providing valid identification (ID card, student card, driver’s license, passport, etc.) or a deposit (100 RMB per item) as collateral. 4. Limit of one rental per person per identification, free of charge; if the audio guide is damaged due to human error during the rental period, the renter must compensate according to the degree of damage, and if lost, compensation must be made at the original price of the item.Qian Xuesen Library
