Located on the Xuhui Campus of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, the Qian Xuesen Library covers a total land area of 9,300 square meters with a construction area of 8,188 square meters, consisting of one underground floor and three above-ground floors, with an exhibition area of over 3,000 square meters. The basic exhibition in the library is divided into four sections: The Founding Father of China’s Space Industry, Pioneer in the Frontier of Science and Technology, Demeanor of a People’s Scientist, and The Path to Success for a Strategic Scientist. The library houses over 76,000 documents, manuscripts, and books of Comrade Qian Xuesen, more than 1,500 precious photos, and over 700 physical objects. It also includes cultural facilities such as a resource hall, thematic exhibition hall, and academic exchange hall.
Opening hours are closed all day on Mondays throughout the year; open from 09:00 to 17:00 from Tuesdays to Sundays; and open from 09:00 to 17:00 on New Year’s Day, Spring Festival, Qingming Festival, Labor Day, Dragon Boat Festival, Mid-Autumn Festival, and National Day. Audio guide rental: 1. The Qian Xuesen Library provides self-service audio guide rental services for visitors. 2. The self-service audio guides have detailed information on the exhibits in the library, offering narration in both Chinese and English, with a total guide duration of 60 minutes. 3. For renting self-service audio guides, please proceed to the front desk service center to complete the rental procedures, providing valid identification (ID card, student card, driver’s license, passport, etc.) or a deposit (100 RMB per item) as collateral. 4. Limit of one rental per person per identification, free to use; if the audio guide is damaged due to human factors during the rental period, the renter must compensate according to the extent of the damage, and if lost, compensation must be made at the original price of the item.Qian Xuesen Library
