The Qiandao Lake ‘Moonlight Love’ light and shadow art night tour is located on Moonlight Island in the central lake area of Qiandao Lake. It is composed of four small islands: ‘Heart Garden’, ‘Connection Garden’, ‘Love Garden’, and ‘Dream Garden’. It is a scenic area with extremely romantic atmosphere and cultural heritage. It is a night tour feast of ‘admiring the moon, chasing the moon, chasing dreams, and realizing dreams’. ‘Moonlight Love’ includes two major sections: ‘Themed light and shadow show’ and ‘Biennial of International Light and Shadow Art Festival’. The 2024 second Qiandao Lake International Light and Shadow Art Biennial takes ‘The Posture of Light’ as the theme. This biennial not only considers artistic forms but also tends to pay more attention to the consumption needs of current consumers, especially young people. It incorporates strong tourism attributes and is more technological, emotional, and interactive than the first biennial, focusing on tourist word-of-mouth. In the second biennial, among 215 works from 8 countries around the world, 11 works are selected to be presented on Moonlight Island. Teacher Cui Jian’s work ‘The Girls Outside’ and ‘Lake Light and Cosmos Convergence’ are very technological. The works ‘Retrospection’, ‘Flowers in the Mirror’, ‘Riding the Wind and Breaking the Waves’, ‘Dialogue between Thousand Islands and the Lake’, ‘Carefree Wandering’, and ‘Landscape and Birdsong’ all have a certain sense of sentiment and interactivity. Work: ‘Retrospection’: The work of artist Ji Siyu is located in the Shawan of the lock exhibition hall. It is shaped like a disc, colorful, and has a sense of history and sentiment. Tourists can control the flow of light through the interactive device on the shore. It has four layers inside and outside, controlled by four buttons. Each layer corresponds to an old song. It is not stuck in the past, not afraid of the present situation, and not confused about the future.
‘Light-year Transmission’: The work of Israeli/Chinese artists Ziv Ze’ev Cohen and Li Yi is located on both sides of the upper passage of the Unbridled Coffee. The work draws inspiration from ancient poems describing Chun’an County over thousands of years. Through manipulating light and photosensitive materials, modern technology decodes ancient poems to present our new interpretations of ancient poems. ‘Lake Light and Cosmos Convergence’: The work of artist Hu Yijia is located on Yule Bridge. The creative inspiration of the work comes from ‘Guanzi – Zhouhe’: ‘Heaven and earth are the pouches of all things. Zhouhe contains heaven and earth in a pouch.’ The overall shape has a special structure of a universal joint, so that the central luminous body can rotate at any angle and maintain balance and stability. Tourists can experience the virtual and real illusions of light and shadow in the lake light black hole space through gyroscope interaction. ‘The Girls Outside’: The work of Cui Jian, the father of Chinese rock and roll and an artist, is located on Lucky Bridge. It is extremely technological and has a flying saucer shape, allowing people to feel the unknown and encounter surprises. ‘The Hook of Time’: The work of artist Liu Gefan is located on Lucky Bridge. The hook of time that pierces through the clouds hooks worldly trifles and evokes memories. Tourists can check in and take pictures as a souvenir, with the implication of ‘willingly taking the bait’. ‘Dialogue between Thousand Islands and the Lake’: The work of artist Li Jingkang is located on Lucky Bridge. A voice message is sent to the lake surface, and the lake surface gives a reply. It is Qiandao Lake answering doubts and solving puzzles for the world.‘Dancing Leaves’: A creation by Bulgarian artist Mihaela Kamenova, located at the Lucky Bridge, this piece is vibrant and poetic, featuring three distinct leaves each representing a different stage of descent, capable of interactive color changes.
‘Carefree Wandering’: A collaboration by artists Liu Jiaqing and Liu Zixuan, situated at the Lucky Bridge, the polarized light panels floating on water are only visible through the viewing windows set on the shore or via the reflections on the water’s surface. ‘The Flower and the Mirror’: A piece by artist Chen Huisong, located in the middle of the Lucky Bridge, the red flower elements harmonize with the themes of love and academic success. The layered petals, together with their reflections in the water, form a complete flower. The central laser light stands like a stamen, and the moon mirror control console on the platform allows for the adjustment of purple light within the flower by flicking fingers, causing the flowers sprayed with luminescent paint in the lake to change color. ‘Mountains, Waters, and Bird Songs’: A collaboration by artists Wu Dingyu, Xing Qi, Li Zunhao, Zhao Liang, and Wang Ruizhu, located at the Lucky Bridge, skillfully blending light and shadow with nature. The piece triggers light changes through the sound spectrum produced by bird whistles, as if echoing real bird songs. ‘Riding the Wind and Waves’: A creation by artist Li Na, located at the end of the Lucky Bridge, features two unicycles set up on the bridge. Simply by riding them, the water spray装置 in the lake is activated, creating an illusion of riding the wind and waves on the lake surface. Open all year round from 17:00 to 20:00.
