It is said that Qianduo was the Bagua Array set up by Yue Fei, the then prefect of Taizhou, during his battle against the Jin troops. The average elevation of Xinghua is less than 2 meters, making the farmland prone to waterlogging disasters. Therefore, local people, during the dry season, would dig up the mud from the low-lying areas and pile it up on higher grounds, creating small island-like paddy fields in the water.
These paddy fields vary in size and shape, are not connected to each other, and can only be traversed by boat. Looking at the paddy fields, one can see a crisscross of rivers and ports, with each separated paddy field resembling an island floating on the water surface, earning the area the reputation of a ‘Country of Ten Thousand Islands’. Around the time of the Qingming festival, when the rapeseed flowers bloom, the blue sky, clear water, and ‘golden islands’ create a magnificent scene described as ‘Rivers have ten thousand bends with clear water, fields have no single paddy without yellow flowers’. To enjoy the sea of flowers in the scenic area, one can climb the pavilions, towers, and buildings within the area to overlook the entire sea of flowers. There are waterways through the sea of flowers, and if interested, one can take a boat to travel between the flowers, appreciating the golden beauty from a different perspective, discovering a unique beauty and providing a unique play experience. If the weather conditions are favorable, you can see the golden sea of flowers in the mist, with a fairyland-like haziness where you can vaguely see the brilliance of the fields, and you can’t help but be intoxicated by this beautiful scenery. Around the Qingming festival is the peak blooming period of the rapeseed flowers, so it is recommended to visit during this time. A casual snapshot can be a fine enough wallpaper, so remember to take more photos to commemorate your trip, making the journey worthwhile.
