Qingdao Shell Museum is a privately owned museum themed around shells, integrating shell research, collection, science education, and cultural tourism. The museum covers an area of approximately 2600 square meters and features one of the largest beach T-stages in the country.
It is primarily composed of six sections: shell specimen display area, shell viewing area, children’s interactive area, science popularization area, shell product display area, and Shell Biology Research Institute. The museum houses a collection of over 4260 shell (sea snail) specimens from the Pacific, Atlantic, Indian, Arctic Oceans, and more than 60 countries across five continents, representing five classes and 262 families. It also exhibits more than 130 types of shell fossils. The quantity and hardware facilities of the museum are at a high level domestically.
Here, you can find the large clams with a diameter of one meter, as well as tiny sand shells that require a magnifying glass to see, and ammonite fossils dating back 450 million years to the Ordovician period.
Opening hours: 05/01-10/31 from 09:00 to 17:30; 11/01-04/30 from 09:00 to 17:00.
