Qingguo Lane extends from Heping North Road in the east to Nanjie Street, a bustling road in Changzhou in the west. To the south is the moat. It is about 1 kilometer long. To commemorate ‘winning laurels in the imperial examinations’, he planted eight osmanthus trees in his residence, known as ‘Baguitang’. Many celebrities emerged from Qingguo Lane. Zhuang Kai, an industrialist in the Qing Dynasty, Qian Weicheng, the number one scholar and painter, and his younger brother Qian Weiqiao, and Zhang Zanchen, the general manager of Pingxiang Coal Mine and Hanyang Iron Works.
