Qingliang Mountain Park is located in the west of Nanjing City, on Qingliang Mountain, and is known as the ‘Seven Dynasties Historical Site’. It is a famous historical and cultural park, celebrated as the ‘urban forest’ due to its lush mountains and urban location.
Historical sites and cultural relics can be found everywhere on Qingliang Mountain, including ‘Zhumapo’, ‘Nantang Ancient Well’, ‘Qingliang Temple’, ‘Chongzheng Academy’, and ‘Sweeping Leaf Building’. The plaque of ‘Deqing Hall’ was personally inscribed by the Later Lord Li Yu. The temple used to house paintings of dragons by Dong Yu, calligraphy by Li Yu in the eight-part style, and cursive script by Li Xiaoyuan, collectively known as the temple’s ‘Three Unique Treasures’.

There is a well inside the temple called ‘Badaquan’. It is said that the monks of the temple, because of the water from this well, have white hair even when they are old, hence it is also called ‘Huayang Well’. On the southern slope of Qingliang Mountain is the former residence of the famous patriotic poet and painter, Gong Xian, from the late Ming and early Qing dynasties. On the back slope of Qingliang Mountain is the ‘Zhuge Liang’s Zhumapo’.

It is said that Zhuge Liang, in order to unite Wu and resist Cao, personally went to Jingkou to negotiate with Sun Quan. When passing through Moling, he made a brief stop, observed the topography of Moling on horseback, and left the famous saying ‘Zhongfu Dragon Coils, Shicheng Tiger Perches, truly a place for emperors’. The park is open year-round from 06:00 to 18:00.
