The Qinglong Ancient Temple was built in the second year of Tianbao in the Tang Dynasty (743 AD). At its largest scale, there were 5,048 temple rooms. During the reign of Emperor Kangxi in the Qing Dynasty, the emperor even visited and personally inscribed the plaque of ‘Exquisite Dignity and Longevity’. The imperial court bestowed the temple name of ‘Jiyun Zen Temple’. In those years, the Qinglong Ancient Temple was known as ‘the majestic Buddhist temple in the world’.
