Qingming Bridge is a single-span stone arch bridge, with a total length of 43.2 meters and a span of 13.1 meters, entirely constructed from granite. Due to the difference in elevation on both banks, the number of stone steps is unequal, with 46 steps on the east and 43 on the west. The arch ring is a common sectional arrangement style seen in Jiangnan, consisting of 11 sections. On both sides of the arch, there are inscriptions on the ring stones.
One stands from the Qing Xianfeng period, detailing the bridge’s construction and name change; the other from the Tongzhi period, describing the reconstruction of Qingming Bridge. The bridge railing lacks carvings, with two watch pillars on each side, giving it a very simple and ancient appearance. In 1983, two Qing Dynasty stone tablets were discovered on the east and west sides of the bridge, one written by Zou Yigu and erected in the 31st year of Qianlong’s reign; the other erected in September of the ninth year of Tongzhi’s reign.
