Qingpu Museum is located in the urban area of Qingpu. It is a beautiful modern building. Here are displayed many cultural relics unearthed in Qingpu area, such as pottery, jade ware, bronze ware, etc., including the black pottery bird pattern zun and chicken heart-shaped jade han, which are the treasures of the Stone Age and witnesses of Shanghai’s ancient history and culture. You can also learn about the development process of Shanghai’s local ancient civilization and the folk customs of ancient Shanghai through detailed graphic and video materials.
The main body of the museum is composed of five intersecting ellipsoids. Viewed from the air, it looks like a beautiful butterfly. The middle part of the building is the lobby. Entering the door, you can see the large stone relief ‘Ode to Qinglong’. The east and south wings are exhibition areas, displaying more than a thousand fine cultural relics. The cultural relics displayed in the museum are very rich, and the text is clear and understandable. There are also various models and scene arrangements, making it easier for people to understand Qingpu’s history and interpret ancient Shanghai. The exhibition theme of the south wing area is ‘The Source of Shanghai’s Ancient Civilization’. Here are displayed exquisite cultural relics unearthed from ancient cultural sites such as Songze and Fuquanshan in Qingpu, one of the birthplaces of Shanghai’s ancient civilization. Among them, the black pottery bird pattern zun unearthed in Zhujiajiao Town, the chicken heart-shaped jade han and black pottery bamboo weaving pattern pot with lid unearthed in Songze site, and the flat and thin jade axe and black pottery fine engraved high-ring foot dou unearthed in Fuquanshan site are all very precious fine cultural relics. The exhibition theme of the east wing is ‘The Charm of Shanghai’s Water Culture’. You can learn about the changes of water systems and the evolution of administrative divisions in Qingpu in history. Here is the real scene restoration area of Qinglong Town’s harbor with magnificent momentum, reproducing the market customs and prosperous scenes of Qinglong Town, an overseas trade port in the Song Dynasty.
