Qishan Pingtian Lake Scenic Area is located 2 kilometers to the east of Chizhou City, primarily consisting of Pingtian Lake and Qishan on the south bank. The lake is well-landscaped, and the scenery along the lake is refreshing to the spirit. In the evening, one can stroll along the wooden plank road by the lake, enjoy the breeze, and appreciate the night view. It is also a paradise for anglers, attracting not only local Chizhou residents but also tourists from surrounding areas for fishing by the lake. On the west bank of the lake, there is the Pingtian Lake Lotus Platform, a lotus-shaped viewing platform that extends into the lake. Due to its proximity to the city, it is an excellent spot for lake views, and the platform is illuminated at night. The Qishan on the south bank of the lake is not tall and can be quickly climbed to the summit. The mountain is famous for the statue of Yue Fei and the Cuwei Pavilion. The Tang Dynasty poet Du Mu once wrote ‘Climbing High on Qi Mountain on the Ninth Day’, and Yue Fei authored ‘Cuiwei Pavilion in Chizhou’ here. The numerous cliff inscriptions on the mountain, especially the majestic ‘Qishan’ written by Bao Zheng of the Northern Song Dynasty, should not be missed. On the west slope of Qishan, there is Chizhou City Zoo, which is suitable for tourists with children. On the east bank of Pingtian Lake, there is the Bi Mountain, also a small hill not too tall, with a Watch Tower built on the summit. The cruise ship moored by the lake is said to have been a hotel, which is no longer in business and has become a unique attraction on Pingtian Lake. On the north bank of the lake, there are attractions such as the Tortoise Worshipping Mountain, Taibai Poetry Rhyme, and windmill sculptures. The scenic area is open all year round, 24 hours a day, but the opening hours for individual attractions may vary.
