QiYuan Scenic Area is located in Haiyan County, which includes several parts such as QiYuan, Haiyan County Museum, Zhang Leping Memorial Hall, and Zhang Yuanji Memorial Hall. Originally known as the ‘Feng’s Garden,’ QiYuan is the main attraction of the scenic area and is one of the top ten famous gardens in China, representing the typical private garden style of the Jiangnan region. QiYuan covers an area of 15 acres, predominantly featuring trees, mountains, and ponds, interspersed and arranged in an orderly fashion. Despite its relatively small size, QiYuan offers many scenic views. The layout of the entire garden follows the pattern of a residence in the front and a garden in the back, with a brick and wood structure covered almost entirely by trees. Visitors can comfortably walk through the caves or along the shores. For those interested in the story of QiYuan, guided tours are available within the scenic area for a fee of 50 yuan per session.
Haiyan County Museum is situated next to QiYuan, with a commercial street and a small square in front of it, where visitors can purchase snacks and stroll around. If you have extra time, you can visit the Zhang Leping Memorial Hall and Zhang Yuanji Memorial Hall across the square, both of which are free of charge. Zhang Leping is the creator of the ‘San Mao’ comic character, and many visitors can find their childhood memories here.
