Nostalgia for military camp – Even though those memorable days are almost five years behind us, and those memories have been replaced by deeper ones, they are still unforgettable for a lifetime. It was my ‘years of passionate burning.’

1. In 1995, I successfully enlisted in the army, which was stationed in Shanghai – the Shanghai Armed Police Corps. Before that, there was a small episode. Eager to enlist, I was mistakenly sent for the enlistment medical examination because my company was in another town with the same name, and the personnel department mistakenly used the wrong name. However, I still had to go to the medical examination and passed it, but in the end, it was found that the personnel department had made a mistake with the name. I returned to my own town for the medical examination, passed the political review, and as an active representative of the young soldiers, I spoke at the enlistment ceremony. The days waiting for the army were both joyful and anxious. To prepare in advance, I started running every morning a month earlier, which indeed proved to be very useful during the later training in the army.

On December 18th, under the gaze of relatives, I climbed onto the military vehicle. Since it was in Shanghai, I arrived at the new recruit company in the evening. The squad leader was a young man with a dark complexion and about the same height as me. He looked like he was in his thirties because he was thin and dark, so I started with a sense of awe.
