Rudong People’s Park is located in the south of the county town and is situated in the county’s economic and technological development zone. It faces Qingyuan Road, the main road, in the east, adjoins a villa area in the west, has Zhongtian Huanghai Hotel on its south side, and is adjacent to the Rutai Canal on the north. There is a small river on the south side of the park serving as the boundary river.
The park is trapezoidal in shape, covering an actual area of 106 mu, including a water surface area of 18.7 mu and a green area of 76.2 mu. Inside the park, there is a landmark building called Haige. There is a lotus pond with a length of 2000 meters. There are five bridges named Yiren Bridge, Dengyun Bridge, Buyue Bridge, Lingbo Bridge, and Qushui Bridge. The park is divided into six scenic areas: the eastern children’s amusement area, equipped with more than ten kinds of children’s amusement facilities such as bumper cars, racing cars, elevated airplanes, self-controlled airplanes, and small trains; the Ming’ou Lake scenic area, where Ming’ou Lake has a wide water surface. There is a lake center island and a Biyiting (Pavilion of Flying Together) built on the island. A simple and elegant teahouse will be built on the north side of the lake; the Wolongtan scenic area, where there is an island in the pool and a pool on the island; the Osmanthus Garden scenic area, planted with hundreds of osmanthus trees of gold and silver varieties. Whenever late autumn comes, the fragrance of osmanthus fills the air inside and outside the park; the Plum Blossom Garden scenic area, closely adjacent to the north of the Osmanthus Garden, where hundreds of plum blossom trees of different varieties are planted; the Bonsai Garden scenic area, located in the northwest of the park, contains 1,603 medium and small bonsai and potted plants, and 60 large and medium-sized bonsai. More than 200 varieties of chrysanthemums are preserved and collected. Rudong People’s Park is a large public green space integrating entertainment, leisure, social interaction, tourism, and economy in the county town. Since it was opened to the public on National Day in 1999, it has received more than 200,000 tourists. It has become a good place for leisure for millions of people in Rudong.
