San Zhao Cave, also known as Jiao Gong Cave, is located on the roadside leading people to the top of the mountain on the west foot of Jiaoshan Mountain. Originally, there was a Jiao Gong Shrine on Jiaoshan Mountain with a statue of Jiao Gong inside. In 1653, the monk Xingshang moved the statue of Jiao Gong to San Zhao Cave, and the Jiao Gong Shrine was changed into a Qielan Hall. Later, it collapsed and was not repaired. In the Mid-Autumn Festival of 1898, San Zhao Cave was renovated by Jiao Erchang, a descendant of Jiao Guang. There is a stone statue in the cave. The clothing style is deep clothing with a broad belt, and there are two boys standing on both sides. The current statue of Jiao Guang in the cave was made in August 1979. Wearing hermit clothing, straw sandals, holding a book scroll in his right hand, he has an elegant demeanor and vivid image. According to legend, in the late Eastern Han Dynasty, the scholar Jiao Guang was unwilling to be an official. He took refuge in Zhenjiang to avoid chaos and lived in seclusion here. He has profound knowledge and is proficient in medical skills. He often collects herbs on the mountain to treat the surrounding fishermen. He chops firewood on the mountain every day and makes a living by selling firewood. He is self-reliant and lives a very poor life. Emperor Xian of the Han Dynasty, Liu Xie, heard of his high reputation and issued three imperial edicts inviting Jiao Guang to become an official, but he refused all the invitations. It is known as ‘not responding to three imperial edicts’, so it is named San Zhao Cave. It is said that when the emperor issued the first imperial edict, Jiao Guang was decocting medicine and excused himself on the grounds that his wife was ill. For the second time, he evaded by inviting friends to go on a long journey. For the third time, Jiao Guang was lying on the bed and refused the imperial edict on the grounds of being old and sick. Later generations renamed the mountain name at that time, Qiao Mountain, as Jiaoshan Mountain in memory of him. Opening hours: open all day throughout the year. The specific business status is subject to the opening situation on that day.
