Sea Cloud Taishan, also known as the legendary Donghai fairyland – Yingzhou, is located in Hou Yuntai Mountain, Lian Yun District, Lianyungang City, Jiangsu Province, and is composed of 58 peaks including Yunshan, Weiping Mountain, Weijian Mountain, Luduan Mountain, and Sucheng Mountain. The main peak, Da Weijian, stands at an elevation of 605.4 meters, making it the second-highest peak in Jiangsu. It is bordered by Lianyungang, the starting point of the New Eurasia Land Bridge to the north, and surrounded by Sucheng Township, one of China’s top ten leisure villages, to the south, which is known as a ‘paradise on earth’.
The main scenic spots include: the large-scale original ecological catalpa forest and sea of flowers ‘Wanshou Valley’ in East China, the bamboo sea fairyland ‘Wudao An’, the Buddhist temple ‘Faqi Temple’, known as the first Buddhist forest in Huaihai, and the totem of the Eastern Bird Kingdom, Shaohao’s country, ‘Yuntai Divine Eagle’. Compared to inland mountains, the uniqueness of Sea Cloud Taishan lies in the fact that one can see the beautiful Yellow Sea while walking on the mountain’s plank road. The great poet of the Song Dynasty, Su Dongpo, praised in his poem ‘Reflections on the Sea’: ‘The lush and green Mount Tai lies on the sea, Penglai and Fangzhang are indistinct, I have heard that all plants and trees are fairy medicines, I want to abandon my wife and children to guard the market circle’.
