Shagouhu Agricultural Demonstration Park is located on the west side of Yangzhou Road, south of Changjiang Road and north of Xingguo Road, covering a total area of more than 4,000 mu. Due to factors such as low-lying terrain, the lake area has always been a low-yield area. Only one season of rice can be harvested in a year. In rainy years, there is often no harvest. In 2005, in order to completely change the low-yield status of Shagouhu and improve agricultural production efficiency, the municipal Party committee and government included the construction of Shagouhu Agricultural Demonstration Park in the key urban construction projects. According to local conditions, vigorously develop planting and breeding industries, and focus on excavating tourism resources to build Shagouhu into an agricultural demonstration area integrating high-efficiency agriculture and sightseeing agriculture. At the same time, it can also provide a valuable ‘green kidney’ for the development of Pizhou city and play a positive role in promoting the development of surrounding land. The agricultural demonstration park is designed by Tongji University in Shanghai for the overall landscape. The original natural ecological features are retained. Where there is water, it is made into water features. Where there is a garden, it is made into a garden. The original small fish ponds are merged into a large water surface. The sightseeing agricultural area is connected by a narrow water system from south to north. The three gates and individual buildings such as pavilions, terraces, corridors are designed by Professor Zhang Hong of Southeast University, a disciple of Professor Qi Kang of the Chinese Academy of Engineering. The overall style is mainly new Han style, reflecting the characteristics of Han culture. The south gate is 18 meters high and 118 meters wide. There is a mother-child que and a corridor on each side. There is a horizontal corridor in the middle. Facing the gate is a dew-receiving plate 7 meters high. There are five Han Dynasty wine vessels on each side. The main building of the north gate is 28.95 meters high. There are four totem poles on each side. In front of the gate are two replicas of the Han Dynasty evil-averting beasts unearthed in Zhancheng Town of our city, highlighting the characteristics of Han culture. The west gate is 18 meters high and 36 meters wide. There is a Han tripod on each side, highlighting the long history and culture of Pizhou. All the fish ponds in the park are connected in series. Soil is excavated and piled up into islands. Flowers and trees such as black pine, weeping willow, magnolia grandiflora, Ligustrum lucidum and various fruit trees are planted. The beautiful Shagouhu, with weeping willows and green smoke, and blue waves reflecting red flowers, has become a charming scenery in Pizhou! Opening hours: Open all year round from 6:00 to 20:00.
