A masterpiece by a musical master with a super-strong top-notch lineup.
The musical ‘CATS’ is a masterpiece by the famous musical composer Andrew Lloyd Webber and is adapted from the works of T., a British poet and Nobel laureate.
Based on T.S. Eliot’s fable poetry collection ‘Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats’. Producer Cameron Mackintosh and composer Andrew Lloyd Webber are undoubtedly masters of the world’s musical theater, with Webber being called the ‘Father of Musicals’. After learning the story of the enchanting cat Grizabella, he decided to turn this poem into a musical. Besides composing, ‘Cats’ was crafted by the globally renowned musical producer Cameron Mackintosh (notable works: musicals ‘Les Misérables’, ‘The Phantom of the Opera’) and choreographed and directed by Gillian Lynne (notable work: choreography for ‘The Phantom of the Opera’). Trevor Nunn (notable work: musical ‘Les Misérables’) also served as a director for this musical. The world’s top creative team joined forces to create this dreamlike musical, making it one of the most successful musicals in history.
A joyous and touching ‘Cats’ family party that is never tiresome to watch. On a special night, the Jellicle Cats clan is holding its annual ball. Cats of all kinds come to the ball to compete for a chance at rebirth, each taking the stage with their moving songs and enchanting dances to tell their own stories, leaving countless classic moments on stage. All props in the play are magnified several times according to the size and proportion of cats, complemented by dreamlike stage design and wonderfully variable lighting effects, immersing the audience in the feline ball as soon as they enter. ‘Cats’ is a musical that you will never tire of watching. In the United States, someone has watched it hundreds of times, saying that every viewing offers a different experience. Each cat’s story in the play is intriguing, moving, novel, shocking, and classic – this is the infinite charm that has made ‘Cats’ popular worldwide. Some say that ‘Cats’ is synonymous with musical theater; if one wants to get to know musical theater through a single play, ‘Cats’ is enough! This world-renowned classic has returned to China after a five-year absence – how can you miss it! The Jellicle Cats family, we will meet soon!
