It is a national, Shanghai and Minhang District science popularization education base, China’s large passenger aircraft project publicity base, an outstanding unit of service quality for industrial tourist attractions in Shanghai, and a designated science popularization education base for the second-phase curriculum reform of the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission. It is specialized in promoting and popularizing aerospace science and technology knowledge. The 10,000-square-meter outdoor exhibition area of the center has more than ten different types of real aircraft mainly Chinese military aircraft. The indoor exhibition hall – ‘Shanghai Aerospace Science Popularization Museum’ has three floors with about 2,000 square meters in total. It is composed of three thematic exhibition areas: ‘Approaching China’s Large Aircraft’, ‘Tracing Back a Century of Aviation History’, and ‘Exploring the Mystery of Flight’. There is a 3D circular curtain film and television hall for screening three-dimensional films, a model making room for visitors to learn to make aircraft models, and two simulated aircraft for visitors to experience real flights. Opening hours: Open all year round from Monday, Wednesday to Sunday from 09:00 to 16:00; closed all day on Tuesday throughout the year. At 15:45, the interactive equipment in Hall B stops operating and a broadcast is made for clearing the site. The museum closes at 16:00. The lunch break in Hall B is from 11:30 to 12:15. Closed on Tuesdays every week and from Chinese New Year’s Eve to the third day of the Lunar New Year. Preferential policies: Children: Children under 6 years old (inclusive) or under 1.3 meters in height (inclusive) are free; children from 6 years old (exclusive) to 18 years old (inclusive) or over 1.3 meters in height are half price. Disabled people: Disabled people with valid certificates are free. Military personnel, police, and firefighters: Disabled soldiers, active-duty soldiers, retired cadres, people’s police, and fire rescue personnel are free. Elderly people: Elderly people over 65 years old (inclusive) are free; people from 60 years old (inclusive) to 65 years old (exclusive) are half price. Students: Full-time undergraduate and below students are half price.
