The Shanghai Rail Transit Airport Express Line (Metropolitan Airport Line) commenced its initial operation on December 27th.
The Metropolitan Airport Line runs from Hongqiao Terminal 2 Station to Pudong Terminals 1 and 2 Station, with a train design speed of 160 kilometers per hour, enabling rapid travel between Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport and Pudong International Airport within 40 minutes. This significantly reduces the commuting and travel time between the two major airports and markedly improves the level and efficiency of urban public transportation services. The initial operational mileage of the Metropolitan Airport Line is approximately 59 kilometers, with a total of 7 stations, namely: Hongqiao Terminal 2 Station, Zhongchun Road Station, Jinghong Road Station, Sanlin South Station, Kangqiao East Station, Shanghai International Tourism Resort Station, and Pudong Terminals 1 and 2 Station. Among them, Hongqiao Terminal 2 Station and Zhongchun Road Station are ground stations, while the rest are underground stations. There is one station for internal transfers and three for external transfers (external transfer stations do not enjoy continuous fare calculation and require re-purchasing tickets to enter the station). The starting fare is 4 yuan, and the full journey fare from Hongqiao Terminal 2 Station to Pudong Terminals 1 and 2 Station on the Metropolitan Airport Line is 26 yuan.Shanghai Airport Express Line
