Binjiang Forest Park is located at the northwest end of Gaoqiao Town in Pudong, facing the Pudong Wetland Forest Park across the river. The park is relatively large with lush trees and a variety of flowering plants during the blooming season. Compared to other city parks, it is less crowded, making it an ideal place for leisurely walks, cycling, or even setting up a tent for a rest. It is situated at the confluence of the Huangpu River and the Yangtze River, where you can sit by the river and watch the passing ships or enjoy the beautiful sunset, which is very pleasant.
The park is designed with a focus on plant landscapes, fully showcasing the ornamental value of plants and forming various distinctive plant-themed scenic areas within the park: such as the Magnolia Garden featuring Magnolia and Michelia species, the Rose Garden with Begonias and Cherry Blossoms, the Rhododendron Garden with Azalea plants, and the rare Wetland Botanical Garden in Shanghai… Among them, the nearly 100-acre Rhododendron Garden has planted over twenty varieties of Rhododendrons, including Spring Rhododendrons, Hairy Rhododendrons, Summer Rhododendrons, and Alpine Rhododendrons, totaling more than five thousand plants, which bloom successively from April to June each year.

It is convenient to drive from the city center; once you cross the Huangpu River via the outer ring road, you are almost there. Taking public transportation is not too far, although waiting times may be longer. Upon entering the park, you can walk, rent a bicycle, or take an electric cart for convenience. The electric cart costs 10 yuan per person and can circle the park with three stops to get off and play before waiting for the next cart to the next stop.

Upon entering the park, you are greeted by a large lawn where you can bring a tent to camp and sunbathe, or play frisbee and fly kites with children. Kites are available for purchase at the park entrance at affordable prices. There is a barbecue forest in the park where you can invite friends to rent a grill and barbecue here. The standard grill costs 80 yuan for two hours (including charcoal), and ingredients are also available for sale, but they are relatively expensive, so it is recommended to bring your own ingredients.

Walking along the main road, you will find lush ecological forests, wetlands, and ornamental plant areas. It is very cool to walk on the quiet forest trails in the summer, and you can also enjoy wetland plants like lotuses in the wetlands. Every April, the park’s Rhododendrons and Poppies bloom beautifully, with a wide variety of species, making it a great time for flower appreciation and photography.

Walking along the main road from the entrance to the end leads to the viewing platform, where you can sit on chairs by the river and enjoy the harmonious blend of water and sky, with a hundred boats passing by, and the river breeze blowing gently on your face, which is very enjoyable. Setting up a tripod to photograph the sunset here in the evening is sure to be rewarding. In addition, the park also offers amusement facilities such as bumper cars, electric boats, and paintball.

There are restaurants and snack bars in the park, which are slightly more expensive than outside but still acceptable. If you are not here for barbecue, you can also bring some snacks to satisfy your hunger.
