During the National Day period, Shanghai Chengtou – Changxing Qianwei (Shanghai Qianwei Industrial Co., Ltd.)’s cultural tourism industry, Shanghai Changxing Island Country Park, and agricultural tourism industry’s Qianwei Tangerine Picking Garden and Qianwei Preferred Agricultural Fun Park launched a series of unique National Day-themed activities to express blessings and love for the motherland.

Shanghai Changxing Island is located at the estuary of the Yangtze River. The developed water system and rich natural ecological environment blend and coexist here, giving birth to a unique island holiday landscape.

The Changxing Island Country Park, Qianwei Tangerine Picking Garden, and Qianwei Preferred Agricultural Fun Park in the central area of the island boast many honors such as being the first in Shanghai country parks to win the national AAAA-level scenic spot certification, one of the first batch of characteristic demonstration areas for all-for-one tourism in Shanghai, a high-quality scenic spot for sports tourism in China, a characteristic theme demonstration park for supporting the military and their families, a natural education camp for Chinese teenagers, a national-level safe production base for agricultural products, a national-level standardized production demonstration base for citrus fruits, and a citrus standard park of the Ministry of Agriculture.

The thousand-mu orange orchard and hundred-mu flower sea make the Changxing Island Country Park, far from the hustle and bustle of the city, a poetic habitat that many tourists yearn for and a popular choice that cannot be ignored for National Day outings.Cultural Tourism: Unique Experiences

During the seven-day National Day holiday, a series of colorful celebration activities are launched in the park, offering a unique cultural tourism experience. Four circus shows are held every day, bringing continuous happiness from day to night. These wonderful performances include the globe motorcycle stunt, space walk, and high-altitude silk hanging, which attract a large number of tourists to watch.

At the Qianwei 1966 Resort Hotel in the park, the National Day Garden Party’s Time Market has been newly upgraded and opened. This allows people to relive childhood memories and taste the sumptuous delicacies of autumn. Other activities such as intangible cultural heritage, creative traditional lacquer fan handicrafts, classic childhood games, and bonfire singing all let tourists fully feel the festive atmosphere.

Agricultural Tourism: Distinctive Experiences

Changxing Island with tangerines is almost every Shanghainese’s childhood memory. As the birthplace of citrus cultivation in Shanghai, the Qianwei Tangerine Picking Garden, located diagonally opposite the No. 1 gate of Changxing Island Country Park and at the entrance of No. 2 gate, originated from the Qianwei Farm with a history of more than 60 years. Since its official opening on October 1, it has welcomed many tourists to taste the first sweetness of autumn.

Many international students were very excited when they came to the picking garden during the National Day. Many people said that this was their first time picking citrus fruits by hand in their lives, which is a special experience. This agricultural tourism destination offers a distinctive experience for visitors to engage with nature and enjoy the fruits of the season.One of the classmates from South Korea said that the citrus culture on Shanghai Changxing Island reminded her of her hometown Jeju Island, which is also famous for its abundant citrus production, so she felt very close.

The newly launched upgraded industrial eco-tour in 2024 has once again raised the popularity of study tours in Shanghai Changxing Island Country Park. Visitors tour the Zhenhua Changxing Base to learn how a steel plate is transformed into a shore crane, and feel the immense power of Chinese industry along the five-kilometer shoreline. They also participate in the Jiangnan Shipyard’s ‘Viewing Warships in Jiangnan’ educational tour to experience the immense power of great nation manufacturing. The student activity center within the park has also launched the ‘Little Craftsman, Building Ship Models’ activity, allowing the power of technology to be perceived in the heart.
