The Shanghai Film Museum is located at the original site of the Shanghai Film Studio on North Caoxi Road. It takes more than ten minutes to walk south from Xujiahui Commercial District. The location of the museum was formerly the compound of the Shanghai Film Studio and is also the place where Chinese films started. It is now the office location of Shanghai Film Group. When you come here, you will first see the statues of workers, peasants, and soldiers in front of the museum.
This is the symbol of Shanghai Film. It can be seen at the beginning of films produced by Shanghai Film. The museum has a total of four floors. Entering from the main entrance, there is a service desk on the left and a coffee shop on the right. The visiting order of the museum is to go to the fourth floor first and then go down one floor at a time. You can take the elevator next to the service desk directly to the fourth floor. As soon as you get out of the elevator, you will be greeted by the Avenue of Stars. You can show off your star style on the shining ‘red carpet’. The theme of the fourth floor is ‘Light and Shadow Memories’. On this floor, you can see photos of many filmmakers, statues of film masters and their working scenes, as well as shooting scenes of classic films such as ‘Sentinels Under Neon Lights’. The theme of the exhibition hall on the third floor is ‘Long History of Film’. You will see pictures and texts of various films, understand the growth history of Shanghai films, as well as the development history of dubbed films and animations. You can also see various physical exhibits, such as the prop style book of ‘Dream of the Red Chamber’, the production archives of ‘Hibiscus Town’, the animation character design drafts of ‘Nezha Conquers the Dragon King’ and other precious materials. There are also the bicycle ridden by film star Sun Daolin, the shawl worn by Bai Yang, and the props in ‘Fighting North and South’. The exhibition hall on the second floor has the theme of ‘Film Factory’. Here you can visit the television program recording studio, recording studio, or explore the animation studio, film post-production studio, and makeup and costume studio. You can also dub film clips in person, try making edits, learn and experience the film production process. You can also operate visual imaging devices to understand the principle of film imaging, which is very interesting. The last floor is called ‘Hall of Honor’. Here are displayed the achievements of Shanghai film in a hundred years. You can see picture and text materials of dozens of classic masterpieces and more than 600 trophies. In addition, you can see the shooting scene in the film ‘Crows and Sparrows’, and vividly restore the scenes of older generation filmmakers such as Zheng Junli, Zhao Dan, and Sun Daolin shooting on the set with wax figures. There is a 4D movie screening hall on the first floor. Films such as ‘Uproar in Heaven’ are screened at fixed times. The film length is about 20 minutes and the ticket price is 30 yuan. There is also a museum store on the first floor, selling various film peripheral products and interesting commemorative handicrafts. Preferential policies: For children, one adult visitor can bring one child under 1.3 meters for free.
Children under 3 meters (inclusive) in height or under 6 years old (inclusive) can visit the museum (excluding art cinema halls). This regulation does not apply to children’s groups. Children must be accompanied by adults. Free admission for the elderly: People aged 70 years old (inclusive) and above can enter with relevant valid certificates (excluding art cinema halls).
