The Shanghai Glass Museum, adhering to the principle of ‘innovative iteration’, creates a high-quality visiting experience for the audience, transforming it into a cultural life destination that stimulates imagination and aspiration. The museum’s permanent exhibitions have been fully upgraded and will officially open to the public during the May Day holiday! The upgraded exhibitions include Hall 1 ‘Science History·Technology’, Hall 2 ‘Art’, Hall 3 ‘Glass Omnia’, and Hall 4 ‘NXT Virtual Reality Lab’, offering a rich and diverse experience for visitors of all ages, showcasing the infinite possibilities of glass and leading a new museum lifestyle.
The Children’s Glass Museum is the first glass-themed, child-tailored cultural destination in Shanghai and China, dedicated to providing an interactive experience space of knowledge, culture, and art for children aged 4-12. The brand-new Children’s Glass Museum 2.0 is a contemporary art and design museum where curious and cool kids (and their parents) can explore and better understand this versatile material. Combining novel creativity, playful design, and educational entertainment, the museum opens a world of imaginative glass for children. Here, they can freely traverse a fantastical world of their own, not only gaining joy but also inspiring them to cultivate an independent spirit of exploration, discovery, and creation.

Heat Theater is committed to breaking through traditional performance models, presenting the inheritance and innovation of glass craftsmanship in a tense and dramatic form. The extreme sense of glass and its unpredictable characteristics are vividly displayed in a variety of heart-stirring ways. Unlike traditional glass museums’ hot glass demonstrations, Heat Theater breaks the mold by combining superb glass craftsmanship with artistic drama performances and audio-visual effects, showcasing the extraordinary nature of hot glass craftsmanship. Currently, the Shanghai Glass Museum has developed two Heat Theater performances, ‘Dream’ and ‘Wanderer’.

The Glass Maze, inspired by one of the world’s oldest games and transformed, covers an area of 575 square meters, turning the maze game into a unique design experience. The maze fully utilizes the material properties of glass and mirrors, showcasing the visual play of refraction and reflection to perfection, creating a surreal ‘endless’ illusion of space. The design of lights and music enhances the thrill of the maze game, and the task of finding geometric shapes adds to the challenge of exploration. Please be safe, calm, and bold in your maze exploration.

Embark on a labyrinth challenge and reap a day full of surprises and joy! In its seventh year since opening, the Shanghai Museum of Glass takes an unconventional approach by ‘shattering’ everything that exists, presenting an exhibition that touches reality with brokenness, connects emotions with fragmentation, and firmly believes it can bring a moving experience to every visitor. The special exhibition features 21 installation artworks that use sharp, heart-wrenching imagery related to ‘breaking’ to pierce the originally solid and closed thoughts, concretizing the emotions, experiences, and memories that everyone will go through.

At the same time, the emotional power of music will play a very important role – each installation artwork is accompanied by a carefully selected exclusive song, interpreting the theme of the work with more infectious power. The nearly 2000 square meters of pure white exhibition design space will provide you with a viewing experience that transcends reality. What’s more, you can also smash a glass cup here to experience the personal significance of ‘breaking’.
