The Shanghai Maglev Train starts from the Long Yang Road Station on Metro Line 2 and ends at the Pudong Airport Stations 1 and 2, with a total line length of 30 kilometers. The single-line running time is only 7 minutes and 20 seconds, making it the world’s first high-speed maglev train in commercial operation, with a departure interval of 15 to 40 minutes.
The maglev train utilizes the principle of ‘like poles repel, unlike poles attract’, enabling magnets to resist the force of gravity and allowing the train to completely detach from the track, levitating about 1 centimeter above the track and flying through the air, creating a near ‘zero-altitude’ space flight miracle. The Shanghai Maglev Train is designed to travel at a speed of 430 kilometers per hour, with an actual speed of about 380 kilometers per hour. The radius of the turns reaches 8000 meters, which appears almost as a straight line to the naked eye, and the smallest radius is 1300 meters, ensuring passengers do not experience discomfort.
The entire line on both sides of the track within a 50-meter range is equipped with advanced international isolation devices. The windows of the maglev train are speed-reducing glass, allowing passengers to better enjoy the scenery outside. The speed-reducing glass has a radius deformation at the edges where it contacts the train body. This radius causes the external scenery to deform as it passes through, affecting the vision of passengers inside the car and creating a speed-reducing effect. Additionally, the edges of the windshield have a fading dotted black decorative border, which also plays a certain role.
Operating hours are from 06:45 to 21:42 all year round. The first train departs from Long Yang Road to Pudong Airport Stations 1 and 2 at 6:45, and from Pudong Airport Stations 1 and 2 to Long Yang Road at 7:10. The last train departs from Long Yang Road to Pudong Airport Stations 1 and 2 at 21:40, and from Pudong Airport Stations 1 and 2 to Long Yang Road at 21:42.
Preferential policies for children: Each adult passenger can carry two children under 130cm in height for free.
