The new Shanghai Maglev Transportation Science and Technology Museum is located on the ground floor of Longyang Road Station of the Shanghai Maglev Demonstration Operation Line. It officially opened on August 16, 2007. The predecessor of this museum is the Shanghai Maglev Science and Technology Exhibition Hall. The museum covers an area of 1250 square meters. The entire science and technology museum consists of five exhibition areas: ‘The Birth of Maglev’, ‘Shanghai Maglev Line’, ‘Exploring Maglev’, ‘Advantages of Maglev’, and ‘Prospects of Maglev’. Taking time as a clue, it tells about the past, present and future of maglev. The new museum has a compact layout and rich content. And a great improvement has been made in the display means. From the perspective of ‘paying attention to the interests of teenagers’ and ‘experiencing the charm of science’, many interactive exhibition items, various models and physical parts have been added, so that visitors can understand the scientific charm of maglev in a vivid display environment. The completion and use of the Shanghai Maglev Transportation Science and Technology Museum, on the one hand, will meet the needs of passengers taking the maglev train to understand maglev-related knowledge after experiencing the extreme charm of eight minutes. More importantly, it will meet the requirements of ‘revitalizing the city through science and education’.
