From October 23rd to 26th, the ballet ‘supergroup’ Mariinsky Ballet will perform at the 23rd China Shanghai International Arts Festival. Seven principal dancers and five soloists from the Mariinsky Ballet, covering all age groups of the main dancers, will fully display the ‘ballet aircraft carrier’s’ nearly three hundred years of history and strong strength, presenting an unparalleled visual shock to the Shanghai audience.

On October 25-26, one of the peak works of classical ballet and a milestone work ‘La Bayadere’ will be performed. This is one of the most popular classical ballets, created by the French choreographer Marius Petipa, known as the ‘father of classical ballet’, and completed its world premiere in 1877 at the Imperial Theatre of St. Petersburg (the predecessor of the Mariinsky Theatre). As the birthplace of ‘La Bayadere’, the Mariinsky Ballet has a deep historical heritage and absolute strong performance strength in this play. The lineup of all principal dancers is dazzling, and will use highly complex dance vocabulary to deeply display love, betrayal, and repentance in human nature, bringing a strong shock to the Shanghai audience!
It is worth mentioning that the play is also the closing performance of the 17th China Shanghai International Arts Festival. After nine years, this classic ballet returns to the stage of the Arts Festival again, which is worth looking forward to! Open time 10/25-10/26 Friday-Saturday, approximately 175 minutes (including two intermissions).
