The Shanghai Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA Shanghai) is located within the People’s Park in the heart of the city, neighboring the Shanghai Municipal Government, Shanghai Grand Theater, Shanghai Art Museum, and Shanghai Museum. The museum spans two floors and, despite its compact size, regularly hosts a variety of exhibitions, including pure art displays as well as brand and design exhibitions that cater to the public.

Originally a greenhouse within People’s Park, the museum’s external glass walls were preserved during construction, while the interior underwent extensive reconstruction. Retaining its excellent natural lighting and the superb views of the park, the venue also meets the professional requirements of a museum with the addition of various facilities. The total area of the museum is 4000 square meters, with exhibition areas on the first and second floors totaling nearly 1800 square meters.

All exhibition areas are equipped with professional temperature and humidity control facilities. Funded by the Gong Mingguang Foundation, the museum is dedicated to promoting contemporary art from China and around the world. Managed and operated by a team with extensive curatorial and administrative experience, MOCA Shanghai aims to cultivate an appreciation for contemporary Chinese and global art and design and to continuously advance cultural exchanges between Shanghai and the world.
