The Heat Theater is committed to breaking through traditional performance models, presenting the inheritance and innovation of glass craftsmanship with tension-filled forms. The extreme sense of glass and its unpredictable nature will be vividly presented in various heart-stirring ways. Unlike traditional glass museums’ hot glass demonstrations, the Heat Theater breaks the mold by combining superb glass craftsmanship with artistic dramatic performances and sound and light effects, showcasing the extraordinary aspects of hot glass craftsmanship. Currently, the Shanghai Museum of Glass has developed two Heat Theater performances, ‘Dream’ and ‘The Wanderer’.

The Glass Maze, inspired by one of the world’s oldest games and transformed, covers an area of 575 square meters and turns the maze game into a special design experience. The maze fully utilizes the material properties of glass and mirrors, showcasing the visual play of refraction and reflection to perfection, combining in a surreal way to create an ‘endless’ illusionary space. The design of lighting and music enhances the thrill of the maze game, and the task of finding geometric shapes makes the exploration more challenging. Please pay attention to safety in the maze, stay calm, engaged, and dare to try.

Through the maze challenge, you will gain surprises and happiness throughout the day! In the seventh year after its opening, the Shanghai Museum of Glass took the opposite approach – actively ‘breaking’ everything that exists, presenting an exhibition that touches reality with fragmentation, connects emotions with fragmentation, and firmly believes that it can bring moving experiences to every viewer.

The special exhibition presents a total of 21 installation works. Through sharp and thought-provoking images related to ‘fragmentation’, it pierces the originally solidified and closed thoughts and concretizes the emotions, experiences, and memories that everyone will go through. At the same time, the emotional power of music will also play a very important role – each installation work is accompanied by a carefully selected exclusive song to perform the theme of the work more infectiously.

The nearly 2,000 square meters of pure white exhibition design space will provide you with a transcendent viewing experience. What’s even better is that you can also smash a glass by hand here and experience the significance of ‘breaking’ for individuals. The DIY handicraft courses cover ten mainstream glass manufacturing techniques. Whether adults or children, everyone can find the joy of hands-on creation here.

The DIY glass-making courses provided by the museum include courses of different difficulties such as lampworking, blowing, hot melting, inlaying, painting, mosaics, and beading.
