The Shanghai Summit Observation Deck, located in the Shanghai Tower, is a functional experience area of the building. From the 360-degree panoramic observation deck at the Shanghai Summit, you can look down upon the Oriental Pearl Tower, Jin Mao Tower, and the World Financial Center, and gaze into the distance to see the Expo Park, the City God Temple, the 80,000-capacity stadium, Hongqiao Airport, and the winding Suzhou River and Huangpu River merging into the Yangtze River and flowing into the East China Sea.
The Growing Skyline: The exhibit is located in the lobby of the Shanghai Summit Exhibition Hall on the first basement level. A 100-second live-action restoration animation film condenses and performs the development history of the Bund and Pudong Lujiazui skyline over more than 170 years since the opening of Shanghai in 1840. It intuitively showcases the ever-changing city of Shanghai through a combination of images and sound in a dynamic format, with skyscrapers rising and new heights being continuously set, until the Shanghai Tower became the new height and landmark of Shanghai.
Shanghai’s Shanghai Tower: Divided into three themes – the charm of Shanghai, the height of Shanghai, and Shanghai’s Shanghai Tower – it uses a combination of motion and stillness, virtual and real to display dynamic images interspersed with static photos. From different perspectives, it shows people the different periods and styles of Shanghai-style architecture. As time progresses, it gradually displays the representative buildings of this international metropolis in the process of development. These buildings are not only architecturally beautiful but also contain a deep historical and cultural heritage. They are the essence of the city with a strong Shanghai flavor, a legacy and transcendence.
Skyscraper Dreams: Using the domestic motion self-luminous transparent screen technology and transparent crystal model combination, it fully displays the mysteries of skyscrapers. It shows the evolution of the world’s tallest building since 1885, where the height has been continuously updated, and it also shows the ‘skyscraper dream’ that humans have been pursuing. It displays the world’s high-rise building ranking provided by the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH) as of 2020, serving as a window to view the world’s high-rise buildings.
Gene Bank: The Gene Bank reveals the entire process of urban planning, birth, and construction of the Shanghai Tower. It simulates more than ten world-first initiatives such as sky gardens and dampers, revealing the unknown genetic structure of many buildings.
The Shanghai Tower Observation Deck is equipped with three of the world’s fastest high-speed elevators, capable of reaching speeds of 18 meters per second, allowing visitors to reach the 118th floor in just 55 seconds. During the elevator ride, screens display real-time speed, height, and direction, leaving a lasting impression of comfort and stability.
Sky Post Office: Located on the 118th floor, every postcard captures the beauty of Shanghai’s skyline. Select one for yourself or a loved one to reflect the emotions and ambiance of the moment. A message sent from the top of Shanghai is a treasured, timeless gift. Wishing Tree: The Wishing Tree on the 118th floor has been fully upgraded. Write a wish card or fortune and tie it to the tree with a red string, symbolizing the anticipation of future memories and the hope that more people will make their ‘star’ wishes at the top of Shanghai. From the 360-degree panoramic observation deck, one can gaze at landmarks such as the Oriental Pearl Tower, Jin Mao Tower, and the World Financial Center at their feet, and from a distance, take in the sights of the World Expo Park, City God Temple, Shanghai Stadium, Hongqiao Airport, and the convergence of Suzhou River and Huangpu River into the East China Sea. Here, one experiences the sky as if in a fairyland or standing above the clouds in a magical world. The Shanghai Tower offers a view of the ever-changing weather, the bustling world, and the wonders of the mountains. Cloud Heart Lock: With your beloved, hang a heart lock full of love, a sincere wish, and an eternal promise. Engraving the names of two lovers on the lock symbolizes their hearts being ‘locked’ together, making their love everlasting, leaving a testament of happiness at the top of Shanghai.
