Shanghai Yintao Golf Club is an 18-hole world championship-level course with an area of more than 2,000 mu and a strong Australian style. It is also one of the rare ‘urban golf courses’ in Shanghai. The Yintao course is designed by Peter Thomson, one of the 50 greatest golfers in the world and a five-time champion of the British Open. A confident, erudite and experienced Mr. Thomson creatively exerted his core design concept of ‘originating from the old course of St. Andrews’, which advocates nature, respects the environment and returns to simplicity. Therefore, with its unique design and simple Australian style, the Yintao course truly provides golfers with a highly challenging and extremely interesting swinging paradise. The fairways of the Yintao course undulate and have a strong contrast in lines, vividly showing the unique combination of hardness and softness of golf. Its creative design sweeps away the monotony of plain courses. The entire course is crisscrossed by streams and dotted with lakes, and there are large areas of wild reeds and lilies growing among them. In line with the intertwined streams and local landforms, a variety of natural and interesting small bridges and pavilions are specially built on the course. Stone bridges are simple, wooden bridges are warm, and small European iron bridges are elegant and graceful. There are also wild and interesting flooded wooden bridges that have ‘intimate contact’ with the stream, which is bound to make people’s minds wander and linger.
